I was interested in starting IPSC this summer but looking on STI's website, it seems my STI Spartan is not approved for IPSC

I've read the IPSC rules and it doesn't look like it wouldn't be an IPSC candidate. Maybe it just isn't suitable for production division?

Enlighten me please

irrelevant to the OP's question.

The Spartan is not included on the list as the list is only for Production division. being a single action gun makes it suitable for Standard, or if you're interested in a challenge, Open (kind of kidding here).
 
I think we need some clubs up here to run USPSA matches. Single Stack guys would have a place to play, and we'd get to shoot IPSC targets....no not those ones, the old ones....the good ones. :D
 
1911's do. You generally see 2011's and the like,...45's sometimes,..but that I have only seen a handfull of .45 single stacks run reliably with larger mags. With the exemption gone in Canada for fitting in the box with mag inserted, the 1911 can not run 10rd mags (I don't believe it will come close to fitting.)

I thought the RD had the juice here, but I see the, "...AND the IPSC Executive Council."

3.3.1 IPSC matches are governed by the rules applicable to the discipline. Host organizations may not enforce
local rules except to comply with legislation or legal precedent in the applicable jurisdiction. Any voluntarily
adopted rules that are not in compliance with these rules must not be applied to IPSC matches without the
express consent of the Regional Directorate and the IPSC Executive Council.


I remember reading about that and shaking my head. :(

Hard to believe the 1911 has been whipped by the pencil. :bangHead:
 
I just re-read the thread on the Global Village about the (lack of) exemptions. It just pisses me off...on general principle.

Here we have a rule (3.3.1, which I quoted in the post above) in the book that seems expressly written to allow for exemptions...such as these.

And, then we see a quote like this (from Vince)...which states a differing political agenda:

"The goal? 85 Regions, 1 Rulebook, 0 Exemptions."

- There is no logical advantage.
- No competitive advantage.
- It is a monetary dis-incentive.
- A logistical nightmare.
- It alienates a number of current...and potential...shooters.
- It puts massive hurdles in front of one of the most popular handguns every invented and still widely in use.


All for what? Leadership's goal of "no exemptions".

We had the exemption previously because of our proximity to the USPSA,...our RD did apply,..but the hierarchy shot it down.:kickInTheNuts:
 
I think common sense says we should have our rules closer in alignment to the USPSA rule book as it is the closest foriegn country to us, making it more likely and easier for Canadians to go shoot their matches and they can come shoot ours, without huge differences in rules and equipment....Or we just have our own version of the rule book like USPSA does that takes into account our regional differences and Laws.

Canadian Practical Shooting Association (CPSA) ??
 
If you want to shoot IPSC you need to take your Black Badge course. You will have known the answer to your question if you had done it.

To play in ANY game you have the learn the rules...
