What's up with all these new "black" rifles being built to look like fugly boxes? FN SCAR another case in point. Both make the Swiss Arms SG-550 look positively svelte and the AR-15 looks absolutely elegant in comparison! I'm sure they're well-built rifles, but why the move toward designs that lend themselves to use in a bad Starship Troopers sequel?
 
Yep I'd buy one!! Only problem is if it's in 5.56 i'd never be able to afford feeding it unless the ammo situation in N.A. sorts itself out.... or I get a reloading machine....

These days it's not uncommon to see old lee-enfields and AR15s still in use, but you can't help but wonder if we're gonna see all these plastic guns still out at ranges 60 to 100 years from now.
 
Did some digging.
There are 5.56 and 7.62 versions
The internals are said to be similar the the G36 with a piston driven short stroke operation and a rotating bolt assembly. It was developed as a competitor to the FN SCAR.
