S&W parts

I have a couple of sources for original parts and can fabricate anything I can't find...was just thinking that some of you hardcore S&W guys might have an inside track to a parts source...

for you S&W buffs-is the DA in 38 the same frame etc as the first model DA in 44?
I can find far more listed parts available for the 38 than the 44...the schematics look almost identical...nice to have original springs...

has anyone ever had to remove and replace a base pin?
 
OK so the 38 DA parts won't fit(not surprised).The 44 parts are virtually impossible to obtain.
I have specs to build everything but the barrel latch cam and spring...anyone have one they want to measure for me and save me a pile of trial and error?

all I can tell you is try Wortners gunworks in Chatham Ontario . he might have an idea . He has been a repair depot for years . good luck .
