hello all, i have a chance to trade a winchester 94/22 for a savage 24 .22mag over 20 ga. the 94 is in very good condition and the savage is good but been hunted for sure. i dont ever use the 94 and the savage would make a great upland gun.. what do you think? i have been told the 94 will sell for 500 plus
thanks!

I think a 94/22 in decent shape would be worth substantially more than a Savage Model 24.

If you really have your heart set on a Savage Model 24, Sell the Winchester, buy the 24, and pocket the difference. Personally, combination guns don't really appeal to me; they don't really fill either role as well as a dedicated rifle or shotgun. Perhaps, they might make sense if you were hunting two types of game at the same time.

:agree: Both are good guns but the Winchester is worth far more.

I say the same as Mr.Friendly, but really, if you want to trade, the winchester is worth what its worth to you. I have often traded for a gun worth slightly less than mine, but didn't care, as I wanted the particular gun in question. I don't see .22 mag over 20 ga too often, so I'd personally do the trade.

Winchesters function very well, nearly all the time. Savage 24's are mostly frustrating.... bad triggers, shotgun barrels that don't shoot any where near the same point of aim as the rifle barrel, poor fit and finish, poor extraction of empties, etc. The two Savage 24's that I have owned have been enough "experience" for me. I'd suggest a shooting/function test before you buy any Savage 24.

Same here. The 9422 is a more prized firearm well known for it's workmanship, great design, and accuracy. I would not trade it either... especially for a "chicken & rib" combo gun.:p:D
