Well I just wanted to post that I am down in the USA. I am trying to compare prices, and well to tell you the truth, I cannot even find any ammo in rimfire. I went to cabela's and all they had left was some sniper subsonic.
Next I went to scheels and did not find any 22 rimfire. the shelf was bare!
went to Gander and they had a decent selection but at 5 bucks per box!
Next I went to fleet farm, and again nothing but a few boxes of 22 short.
I asked the sales person what happened to all the rimfire stuff?

He said everyone is scared that Obama will ban all of it. He said they have no rimfire or handgun ammo. He also stated that they had about 173 cases of ammo on order and have only received about 20. and they vanish the same day they get on the shelf.
I guess that when I get home I better hit up all the walmarts and buy what I can.

There is lots of rimfire ammo here in Canada for sale, but being from the USA you won't believe how much it costs to buy it here in Canada. American Eagle 38gr Hp in the states can be had for around $15.00 a brick, here in some places it is $23.00. Win stuff like PowerPoints are close to $40.00 a brick. FS

Cabela's in the Peg here, had a giant stack of cases of American Eagle bricks, and Federal Bulk 525 Paks. I had to take a case of Federals home with me. I was forced to go there, Wholesale didn't have the shell holder I needed.

$15 isn't such a great deal when you can't find any. ;)

I have friends south of the boarder and they tell me ammo has started to sky rocket in price (supply vs demand)

I'm only paying $20 for a brick of Win Wildcats and I can get that any day of the week.....:dancingbanana:

Its really hard to figure what going on down in the states. It doesnt seem that we have the problems (so far) with getting hold of ammo(especially rimfire). Also, following the US boards,it seems that our prices are in fact cheaper up here(even given the relative weakness of the Canadian dollar. To see something quite bizarre, have a look at gunbroker to see the crazy prices people are "offering" 22 ammo, often at least double for what it can be bought in the shops.Hopefully this will all settledown again in the next while, and prices and availability will improve

I went into Walmart to see if they had any 22LR bricks. None in stock. And then I heard the lady behind the counter say to another work, "And I'm not ordering any more ammunition until this cabinet is empty.". So I went back to the counter and asked her why she would want customers wanting 22 ammunition, a summer favorite, to wait until she has sold all her centrefire ammo. She said something along the lines of that last time they made an ammo order, they got so much that it had to be stored in the back room. Anyhow, Walmart strikes me as kinda stupidly run if they can't get in 22LR until they sell all their centrefire.

It is just hoarding, panic buying. Once the fear settles down, components and ammo will flow freely again. Add to that the rising Canadian dollar (falling US dollar rather), and things should start to get cheap again.

Last week I went to buy some more boxes of the 333 stuff they sell at walmart in Portage LA P. it was cleaned out. I was planning a trip to winnipeg, but maybe ALL the walmarts in mb are empty.

I may just have to go to cabela's in the peg and buy some 7.62x39 instead.

You'd better get that 7.62x39 while they still have some. The crates are disappearing fast. I was in there on the weekend and they had it for $180 a crate. It didn't interest me as I have no guns in the caliber, so I can't tell you how long the $180 price is for. They have some at Wholesale as well, for $199 a crate.
