Restricted PAL but not yet a club member

So then just join a club, get a membership card, go to buy restricted firearm, have transfer initiated, call CFO short time later (roughly how long? Is this instantaneous? Or as near to it as can be?) and have the transfer finalized, then bring the gun home, go to a range and have massive amounts of fun?

If so, sweet deal!

That's pretty much it. You can call the same day to complete and usually it will be approved the same day or next (Alberta).

Some weird answers out there.

You absolutely can buy a restricted firearm and get a STATT to take it home. I just went through this in Dec/Jan 09. You just have to mention which club you intend on joining.
