I just want to thank everyone in the Main Battle Rifle forum for all of their informative and helpful posts, and the West Coast M14 clinics with the sheer knowledge and help on the M14's.

Without all your help and patience, I don't think my first rifle would have ended up the way it has.

It frankly exceeds the expectations that I had for it. It is probably the most fantastic first rifle I could probably own.

Special thanks for the contributions of:
  • Grox6 for getting me helplessly addicted to to this hobby
  • Barry of Bits of Pieces for suggesting the M14 as a great platform
  • M14Doctor for his insane of amounts of help and knowledge
  • PowMIA56 for helping putting the Tory together at the clinic

No problem...I've been there once before. Next time I see ya I'll throw you a box of 20 rounds for letting me burn up your ammo. Shooting gongs is fun eh :D

Now we just have to figure out why its failing to feed after a round or two. Try to find some extra 5/20 round mags for the collection...I betcha thats part of the problem. BTW that Smith brake is retarded loud but cool at the same time how it lets you stay on target.
 
I have to say, I've tapped into the main battle rifles information vein more than once and have always had my expectations exceeded.

It's a rare thing to see a group be so receptive and friendly.

All your missing is to chop the barrel to 18.5" & some sort of bipod rig plus some tac-ti-cool light's & lasers wouldn't hurt either.

No worries. It was fantastic having some one experienced with these things giving me a hand. That's worth way more then a few rounds of ammo. :cheers:

I really like the Troy, but to be fair, I have no frame of reference in how it compares with another chassis system. I have never owned or fired a M14 in another chassis. Oldsmobiler would be able to provide better comment on how the Troy performs in comparison.

I only have this one that really shows that the side profile looks like. I havn't had a chance to sit down and take photos of it proper yet. Hoping to do so when I get a proper bipod for it.

I've shot thousands of round in my M14 and have gotten used to the way it recoils and gets back on target. The Troy stock feels a bit odd for a traditional guy like me but man with the Smith brake and the stock there is very little recoil. You can actually see the shot hit the berm and followup shots are a breeze.

Glad that everyone is super helpful around here. This is not the first time we have had all kinds of gratitude floating around. It's about building community and that's what we CAN do in light of all the granola crunching, Birkenstock wearing, Lieberal voting, tree huggers from Moronto, Bantario. :evil:

Now come on out and shoot Service Rifle with that super rig at your local Prov Rifle Assoc... in Chilliwackistan, I understand the BCRA is quite active in Service Rifle! :D

im pretty confident that i didnt help at all :p but you're welcome all the same :D


as for the community, im from New Zealand, so i unfortunately dont get the hands on help that some of you get/dish out - which would be awesomely helpful.

but the community has been very accomidating none the less, and ive had alot of good advice thrown my way.
