I want one of my own. Alas, I don't have the coin for a Vltor stock, so I thought to myself "Gee... I could do one up similar with a Chu wood stock, then upgrade to a fiberglass one if it works!" I've always been a fan of pistol grips and adjustable LOP butt stocks, gives for more versatility to me. The kicker is, there just isn't a lot of meat left where I'd have to cut.

I was thinking of using one of Supra's Vz58 adapters, but then the question came up about mounting the pistol grip and the slight angle that the base is machined at doesn't help matter much either. I looked at some of the shotgun atapters, and I don't think the grip geometry would be right for that either. I know I could spend a few hundred bucks and have 45ACPKING do one up for me, and it'd probably be well made and set up right the first time, but this is a project I want to take a crack at myself before I farm out my tax refund for a stock or two. I have a funny feeling that if mine works, my wife is going to wantone for hers too (she's planning on taking hers hunting this fall, I might just use my Enfield.)

So those of you DIY types out there that have pulled this off, what parts did you use, how did you put it together, and what does the end product look like?

Great for a folder, but it still doesn't answer my questions. I remember looking at it a long while back, long before I picked up my M305, and it just didn't fit the bill then.

I'm actually wondering how hard it would be to fit a rem 870 AR style stock, that'd be interesting

I've been wondering the same thing too. Something like a Mesa tactical or S&J's adapter might do the trick, but again, the grip geometry issue might come into play depending on how much wood is required to give the mounting hardware sufficient purchase. I have large hands, but my fingers are kind of short. They're more like paws. My wife has tiny hands, but she likes the M305 enough that she bought one as soon as her PAL came in.

same here, bear paw is quite the definition.

I think the geometry only has to do with how you cut the wood

i feel your pain.

as for what you're talking about with the 870 rear.. ive seen some pictures here and there of an M14 stock with some sort of angular adaptor thats threaded for an AR stock and grip.. PM Catwork, i think it was a picture of his white M1A that is wearing the stock im talking about. it might suit you well

Yea, I've seen that too, now where have I seen the pictures?...

Found 'em, the user is "Snipz" but he bought it off the EE (lucky guy, it's a very unique stock and very cool)

It stands to reason that one could get a USGI FG stock, gun it in the appropriate area, reinforce it, that bolt the 870 end on. Atleast that is how the Vltor one is assembled.

grizz, thanks to you I have a new project, but won't be worknig on it before july
much much stuff to buy before I could actually get my hands on a rem 870 ar style stock

when I do I'll get in touch with you

it's true. you did it. it's all your fault. you can repent in one or a combination of three ways: Send me the stock, send ammo, or send an extra chu stock my way to work on :)
