Looking for info or your experiences with starter press kits such as the RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Master Reloading Kit. Is this worth the price? Ease of use? Safe?
I have seen it for $500.
Any information is appreciated.

It is $289 at Cabela's if you ever take a trip down south

Defnitely the best buy, I got mine for roughly the same price at Scheels. It is considered to be tooling, so there is no export hassle, just the normal duty, if you go over the limit. Dies, are also tools.

The supreme master kit is what I have, it's a great way to get into the hobby. Of course there's better, but not for the same $$$. All you'll need is a trimmer and maybe a tumbler, if you chose to get one. Almost everything in the Supreme Master kit is great, the scale is great, I love the chamfer tool (one of the most used tools on the bench, comes in handy all sorts of unexpected places). The only thing I don't have a use for anymore is the Lube, and Lube pad. I've been using Lyman case spray as of late, much cleaner and easier.

Good god, every time I see the RC kit for sale it makes me cringe. I paid $350 less than a year ago for the complete kit. From a store not known for their fair prices too. Now dealers are seeling them for $450-600 plus shipping which would likely be pretty significant. The only thing it didn't come with that I needed was a caliper. Pick up a tumbler too if you want shiny brass.

SOme people will say Lee is absolute garbage, others say it is good reasnably priced equipment. I tend to agree with the latter. RCBS' outstanding customer service is what makes me buy nearly everything from them

I should have done something when the dollar was at par. Cost to get it up from Cabelas now totals at $571.00. Cheaper to go to Wholesale Sports ($499) at this point.
Thanks for the info regarding Lee vs RCBS...sounds like you get what you pay for.

$571?? Where did you get that price? How much does shipping cost to B.C

I live in Ottawa, and it is $289.99(merchandise)+$37.70 (taxes and duty)+ 28.95( Shipping charges)+ 3.50 (broker fee) for a total of $361.14.. Switch it to CAD, and you get $423.99 at todays exchange rate. Wait for a few months for the dollar to hit par, and you can get the kit for $360 ^^

On the RCBS presses you should check wobble in the ram. Recently there have been a number of them with visible movement when at the top of their stroke.

There have been a few QC issues with RCBS lataly it seems. Besides what SandRoad notes, there have been some cracked toggles reported. Their customer support is reportedly still excellent though and I wouldn't be afraid to buy one but in fairness to their competition, buying a RCBS press isn't the genuine "no brainer" it used to be. In fairness to RCBS if you do get one of their lemons, they'll make it right for you.

Mine bought in 2008, doesn't wobble at the top of the stroke. Haven't experienced the customer service end yet, somewhere around 4000 rounds loaded, everything has just worked, so far :)

I went in for the Lee Anniversary kit out of Higgonsons when the dollar was at par. 125 + tax. Works fine for me so far (and now I've done it - jinxed it by writing that!)
