I know how lame it is when a fng squeels and flashes his mundane toy, but while I'm not new, and this is one of many toys, I gotta squeel... Picked up a M44 from weimaraner here on cgn for next to nothing and I'm floored. This man has a time machine. Don't be fooled by his tales of buying from collectors. This thing is unfired. No scratches, wood is sweet, bore is bright and crisp (and swapped clean when I tried), basically as it was seen in 1944, when it was made. (OK, a few parts are forced match, but I'm going to shoot it, and already have 880 rounds for it.) It's just so cherry, I've been doing the bannana dance since I unpacked it. (not a pretty sight, I do it like the bannana does, you can picture it...) Thanks to this man, all my future posts will be in french. Merki buckets, Jasques.

Of course, but refurb or not, everything on this rifle is perfect. I'm so used to refurbs with minor issues. Blue-ing indescrepencies, scratches, dents, rust spots, filled forced bits, you know what I mean... None of that, looks new. Lets face it, you expect what you pay for, if you didn't pay much your expectations are realistic. I'm thrilled, it's my cheapest gun and came to me in the best shape. Seriously, I picked up a ruger charger "new" this week that had more marks.

I've got an M44 in a post-war laminated stock that pretty much meets that description. It's a joy to behold.

Now go shoot it.:)

PS: No whining about the recoil. It's not bad at all if you hold it properly.;)

Always great to deal with Waimajack. Plus, his dog is a pointer, so he's therfore a really really good man :D

Let's see how fast you go through the crate of ammo ;)

Nice rifle.

You do know it's a refurb, right?

Nothing wrong with a refurb, it just means it got a good inspection before being wrapped up and stored again. Something that the QC folks at many modern firearm companies could learn a thing or two from.

Nice looking rifle 5440fight, I have a M44 from 44 as well.

Don't forget that the sights on these are set at 100 meter zero with the bayonet folded out.
Also clean the bayonet after using corrosive ammo.

I am a new Mosin-Nagant owner (have two carbines on order). Do these rifles use "stripper clips"? Where wud one purchased some?

"Marstar" They have all kinds of stripper clips:
Mosin-Nagant - - - -
Part # Calibre Cap Cond. Avail. Cost
MIS-096 7.62x54R 5 as new Y $2.10

5440fight, I don't want to put you off of that M44 by any means but you should keep a few things in mind. Recoil has a deleterious effect on accuracy and can cause some real physical damage that can ruin your shooting career for life. A broken collar bone is unrealistic unless you have a medical history of bone deficiency but separated retinas are a whole different ball game and a very real threat.
Don't lose your enthusiasm but don't be foolish either. Those rifles were never intended to be fired 50 rounds in less than 1/2 hour from prone or from the bench. They were designed for ease of portability and gave up some of the strong points of a longer barrel.
There is no shame in saying "ouch" and slipping on a "PAST recoil pad"
