Thats what I did it came right out that way...I replaced the lower parts kit with one that I had...but I could not get the new safety to turn. It fit in fine but would not function, the original one worked fine so I left it in...the Norinco ambi safety seems to be a bit smaller in the middle. Of course I may be doing something wrong

The new Norc M4's really created alot of AR newbies....
Thats a good thing execept that you guys have to deal with all the newbie questions..

Did you replace the whole trigger mech or mix and match with Norinco/US parts ? you could also use a digital caliper to measure the the outside diameter of your safety with inside diameter of the receiver. If the safety is a tad bigger then the hole on the receiver you can sand it to make it fit.

The safety won't turn unless the rifle is cocked. Did you try that?

Yup it was cocked.....the ambi one worked fine in that postion..so Im just going to leave it as is for now..

I replaced all the Norc parts with RRA parts trigger, hammer and disconnnect and springs..the RRA safety fit fine in the reciever holes..I checked both safeties with a caliper and the Norc ambi one is smaller in the middle section where the flatpart is... BTW the RRA trigger is an improvement over the Norc trigger...

I'll admit I am a Newby to the AR, but more because It's just shy of impossible to use the outdoor ranges at my club; and I only recently got a .22 conversion kit...(pistol calibers are allowd on the indoor range) For what its worth, the carrier was riding up on 12 lbs of casting flaw or paint on the inside of the upper, I guess when the mag held it back with the last round, there was enough friction to hold the carrier back in the buffer tube; the reason I never noticed before is because the .22 conversion kit clears it...But after getting to try it in .223 on the outdoor range last weekend I realized something was odd; especially since my (previously unfired) Armalite Lower doesn't do it
...1 more reason to buff the thing to a chrome finish and clear coat it (inside and out)..or at least sandblast it and repaint it if the casting is pitted.

Tell me. What is a reasonable distance for shooting the M4 with a reflex sight mounted on it? The sight has a 3.5 MOA dot but my eysight isn't that great out at 100 yards. I am thinking 75 yards perhaps for targets. Besides, I don't think the M4 is very accurate anyway out at 100 yards. Any opinions?
I have no problems hitting the 300m pig silhouettes with my 14.5" Armalite and 4 MOA Aimpoint Comp M2. 2 MOA is easy of the bench. It's just a matter of zeroing your rifle and figuring out your holdover/unders.
I finally got to shoot a Norinco M4 this afternoon, thanks to retepnosflow. Obviously I didn't get a chance to beat it up, but it seems to be a fine rifle. Nothing wrong with the finish on his, either. Not a fan of the ambi selector, though.
My M4 does very well at 50 yards with a 4x32 mildot compact scope from Marstar, 2 - 2 3/4" groups, but at 100 yards the group will spread out a bit, I will say 4 - 7 inches depends on the shooting position, ammo type and weather...ect.
Consider the Millet DMS-1. It's very reasonably priced and compact for use on an AR. It's got an illuminated reticle and you can switch between 1x and 4x. Frontier had some in stock last time I looked.
