Remington 870 Marine Magnum, picked it up from Epps 7 hours ago.

Why does it sometimes sound like there's something rolling around inside? Like a tiny ball bearing? Normal?

Thanks

To be honost I'm still at the stage of posing in the mirror with it. I might not get around to attempting a takedown for a couple of days.

It's the magazine plug. If you take it hunting a CO might check for it.

Does Remington put a plug in a fighting gun with a long magazine?

Beats me what could make the sound you describe. Pumps often rattle a bit when you shake them, but nothing that sounds like ball bearings rolling around inside. Strip it and see what's going on and for sure this needs to be done before you cycle the action very often. An 870 is pretty simple to disassemble, but let us know if you run into a snag.

I bought a used G3 that I LOVE, it had a rattle to it and when I pulled it apart there were 8 pieces of #6 shot in the stock. poor mans mercury I guys.

Also my express had the washer slided on the bolt, which is likely what you are hearing.

Check the bolt that holds the stock on, my MM had a washer that would slid up and down the bolt when I tilted it back and forth.

+3

I had the same thing. Pull the stock off, then put the washer on the other side of the nut and be done with it.

P.S. Don't pose in front of the mirror. Very douchbaggy, or possibly psycho.

While you're fiddling you might as well make yourself a mag block so you can hunt, if it didn't come with one. About 12.8 inches will do it, the "extended" ones I bought were too short so I made some.:(

I wish it was like B.C. so at least while deer hunting with slugs they don't make you block the mag to two. You can have a .460 Weatherby with infinite shots, but not more than 2 soft lead slugs in a shotgun mag !...

Wow, you guys are good.

With the help of youtube I took her apart and put her back together. Silly little black washer was causing all the racket.

Thanks for the help.

That's a great stage..:)...don't ever forget the magic.....it's like the loss of innocence :(. Why, if you ever lose the magic, you can become a jaded, cynical, rough-and-tumble S.O.B. that eats Zombies for breakfast....like this guy:

Just kidding, friend, of course....;)
