What do you mean "just" a PAL? You make it sound like its some how amazingly difficult to get a restricted PAL.

As for your question, yes, all you need is a stander PAL and a deep wallet.

As for the AR mags, you don't need restricted to buy them. However, just about every dealer in Canada has been sold out for quite some time. Unless you are willing to wait, your best bet for getting them would be to join the Equipment Exchane forums here, and look for them there. They show up fairly regularly.

That is correct. Unlike an AR15 that is limited to a range, you can have your XCR malfunction all sorts of places!

One this you should mention is that the newer mini 14s actually have better accuracy. I can get roughly a 3 inch group out of mine at 50 yards.

Restricted due to barrel length.

Yeah, I know, the SU-16A says the barrel length is long enough, but the way the RCMP measure barrel length is supposedly different, blah blah... It's something like 4mm short.

Also, export might be a bit difficult because it folds.

Pros: quality, accurate Cons: $$$ especially for a .223

Pros: reliable, cheap Cons: accuracy

Pros: G36 OMG!!11! (sigh '-.-), accuracy, quality? Cons: $$$ for a .223

Pros: Quality?, accurate, power Cons: $$$
