Is anyone shooting or reloading 6mm PPC with 220 Russian brass?

JM ru

if you want you can call me at 1-204-729-9333 after 5 MB time and we can talk a bit about your gun.

As Rick mentioned you have some work to do before you can shoot it.

I hope you were aware what you were getting into when you got that rifle?

Looks Like

What is "neck turn the brass "?
I mean trim the case to particular length. Am I right?

you bought a cat in the bag.

You better not get to excited about shooting it until you read up a bit more on that particular chambering or talk to the person whom you bought it from to teach you what you need to know.

No neck turning is NOT trimming to length. It is turning the necks to thin the necks so when a bullet is loaded into the case it measures at about .2595-.2560 NO MORE at the neck with a bullet seated.

Need advise for reloading and getting brass, bullets and powder.
Thanks.

If U have a 6PPC USA chamber, why not order redding forming set wich allows U to use 7.62x39 russian brass, run threw die #1 then threw Form and trim die #2 ,neck ream and U will never run out of brass, ive done a couple hundred and had great success & has given me something to do during the winter.Dale in T-Bay:wave:

I am local to your area, feel free to contact me.

You do need to do a few things to get going, find out the twist rates, neck size and start turning some brass, than fire froming.

The barrel with out knowing the twist will be trial and error, but for short range PPC shooting 68-80 gr bullets are a good bet. Your neck depending on who built it could be down to .262 or up as high as .268 but I am sure some brass needs to come off.

From 220 you willl need to mandral the neck up to 6mm ppc, than full size and fire form, after that trim and fine tune teh necks if need be.

To get teh accuracy you are looking for a set of redding bushing dies will be needed, or wilsons, to resize your necks tuning to the Diameter. You can get all this from sinclair once you have this info.

JM,
There is an organized Benchrest gang in Ontario (SORSA) which is the overseeing body of
benchrest shooters around here(southwest Ontario). We currently have 3 clubs set up that host Benchrest Competitions on a regular basis.Listowel,Elmira and Twin City (KW)
There is a score shoot being hosted by Twin City Club this Saturday. If you can ,drop in bring your rifle ,and get some input from some Good Ole Boys (and women) who can point you in the right direction.

I thought it was ALWAYS winter in Thunder bay, laff.

I'm using .220 russians for mine. Rob said so.

M.

Ice-pick we get a full 1 1/2 months of summer here in thunder bay, you just half to fight the rain and misqitoes, so that leaves 7 days of good shooting, hopefully U R not working those days.Dale in T-Bay
