gun question

I really don't understand the logic behind some of the items on that list. You can own an M-14, but not a semi-automatic variant of the FN-FAL or G3 ?

you can't own an REAL m-14 either- it's a CONVERTED AUTO and a 12(3) which is grandfathered only- what you CAN own is the CHINESE M14S or the M305 or SPRINGFIELD M1A OR ANY OF THE MODELS BUILT ON A COMMERCIAL ACTION - that means no actions by winchester, trw, h&r or SPRINGFIELD ARMORY- the government armory, not the commercial concern- and the reason for this is the government says so- i may have missed a manufacturer or 2 in the original run, ( like i don't know where federal ordinace and elmer balance fit in)- as far as the logic behind it, it was b/c the government at the time had a MAJORITY and RULED LIKE KINGS passing whater they wanted- most of the stuff was passed behind closed doors by order in council- ie up until about 93 you could HUNT with the real m14.g3.etc but not the fnc1/fal/ whatever those were restricted back about 75

LOL - you're thinking there's logic involved???

I believe there's significant truth to the fact that there's a copy of Janes Military Guns out there with all the scary black guns circled in sharpy or highlighter, that was the basis for the gun bans in the first place.
