I just came back from "the shooting edge" in Calgary, where I shot a pistol, and semi-auto rifle for the first time. And I must say, the experience was just awesome.
First, the facilities. I found my "guide"(I guess you would call him) to be friendly, straight forward, and easy to understand. He helped me with all the steps, especially when one of my guns jammed.
Secondly, the guns.
I shot a Sig sauer .40 cal, and a beretta cx4 .45 cal. The sig sauer was surprisingly handleable by someone who has never held a pistol before. After the initial "####ting bricks" feeling subsided I was surprised how much control I had in placing shots. I tried two headshots, and hit them both towards the end. The beretta was really really fun. The recoil was barely noticeable, and the rifle was really precise.
That being said, the only gun that I would consider purchasing was the Sig.
