If I was looking for a new .45 that is not 1911 variant and not made with a polymer frame, what are my options? Please make your suggestions here. I am interested in a firearm that is still available new from a manufacturer, not something that has been discontinued.

Tanfoglio makes a .45 auto as well.

My local range has a gun and for the life of me I can't remember if it's the Tanfoglio or the CZ. But I put a box of rounds through it and it was a great gun. Double stack mag so it holds 10 rounds.

I'll be there tomorrow so I'll check on it for you. You don't have a location in your data. Are you in the lower mainland of BC by any chance? If so you can do a drop in and try it for yourself. Just be prepared to pay higher than normal for the ammo since it's one of DVC's range rent-a-guns.

People,
please stop teasing me with S&W 4566 or tell me where to find one. I had 4506. It was my favorite gun, but a little on a large side. I think 4566 would be perfect.

here is a picture of my two tone "lew horton" special 4566NS ... special order of 1000 guns for a US distributor..... along with my 4506, both guns of which I sold, I wish I had kept them both, reliable as the day is long.

Tanfo's gun is the Witness, I believe (Armseast had some), there are some Rugers in this group, the Para LDA is kind of a 1911 but also not.
