Yeah!!!:D:dancingbanana:

However, I've got to admit the questions concerned me: when I worked in a provincial jail I was able to get answers to most of those questions in seconds on the computer.

Do they not access criminal records, or are they just verifying that the answers you give corresponds to what they are reading on the screen?

BTW application went in on April 6, today is May 21.

Welcome from Vancouver

Hope you know what you got into now that you have your RPAL. Joining this evil site may hurt your pocket like it did mine. So many good deals out there. Get a Glock, Sig, Colt, or whatever. (a Norinco too!)
What ever it is, this sport is addictive and satisfying. Plus you get to meet a bunch of fellows who have a terrific wealth of info. Welcome!!!! :dancingbanana:

Umm, well RCMP stores all your criminal stuff regardless. so yes they defiantly have access to your criminal history. Even if you had a pardon they still have access to see what you did. However american agencies would not be able to see anything if you were pardoned for your crime.

Infact i was told regional police wouldn't even be able to see it. However i do doubt that.

I was a stupid young buck and I have a hefty Youth record, and a absolute pardon, that i had to get to join the forces.

So if they would of looked i would of never got a RPAL. well at least i would of never given one to myself... lol...

Not sure what CFC has access to as they came into being after I retired however, law enforcement and border protection agencies on both sides of the border get to see your past, pardons and all.

I have a question about that. does the cop that pull you over see what you did as a Young offender ? Or does he just see That I have a Youth Record ?

skip the hand gun go ar-15!! Although I suggest staying with 9mm and a 357/38 special for cheap good shooting. 38special is a dollar more than 9mm ammo in my neck of the woods and if you want to go big then you can use 357, so a 357 chamberd can shoot 357 and 38 special not the other way around though. just my two cents!

Unless there were legal issues involving your loss of employment, relationship history, or medical history, they shouldn't have access to most of that.

I always believed that most of the questions are there to either trap you in a lie and give them a plausible reason to deny your application, or as legal boilerplate so that if someone with a PAL did go on a shooting spree they can just say "well, we asked if him if he was crazy and he said no so we're not responsible".

Which always made me wonder if that opens the government to legislation because they have supposedly taken on the responsibility of preventing all these things from happening. At least from legal gun owners.
