I am getting a very nice old Husqvarna rolling block #19 miniture rifle in .22 short-probably around 100 years old or thereabouts.Now-the problem is it has open sights-and I do better with a peep sight-is it kosher to put on a tang peep sight on a collectable? [if it is that]or do I just leave it as is?

I think collector value is considerably overblown in most cases so if you lost $50 in value and got $150 in extra enjoyment then go for it. Also if you make a longer tang bolt plus maybe a bit of loktite under the sight, the sight will only require changing the one screw which you can always put back and you will have done nothing to affect the collectible value

yes,its a ''youth model''-I bought it mainly because I liked the look of it-nice wood, octagon barrel,rolling block, compact, good condition.I'm not even sure what I'll use it for-probably clean it up and plink .One thing, being a rolling block single shot, it won;t be using up ammunition like a semi...
That sounds like a really fun little rifle to me anyway. .22LR would have been nice but it still sounds like a little sweety. It reminds me of my grandfathers stories about how all the boys at his school would bring their .22's to class so they could hunt small game after school.
