I finally have a 223 and it loves rem ammo. The gun shop were I usually buy ammo tells me that its hard to get and getting hard. Maybe I'll trade for a 204ruger.

theres load of .223 at my gun shops!! Id stick with the .223 try online they have pretty decent bulk packages. I have never puchased online ammo yet so I dont know the hidden fees and such.

So, you "finally" have a .223 and now you're going to trade for a 204? I doubt very much 204 would be easier to find ammo for than a .223, esp here in NB. It's not exactly gopher/groundhog heaven here.

Ever consider reloading?

Head on over to the disaster prep forum and you may find most of the .223 buried in someone's backyard. We were down in Rochester last weekend and went into a gun store to see if there were any good deals.... Everyone in NY is talking/scared about what Obama is going to do with their AK's/AR's and Uzi's... .223 is slim pickings and from talking with some of the locals.. seems like everyone is hording the stuff in prep for the worst....

Time to start re-loading.. that is if you can find .223 dies. Many places are backordered right now....

"...where's all the 223 ammo?..." The Middle East. Iraq and Afghanistan mostly.
"...buried in someone's backyard..." Heard rumours, long ago, that Viet Nam era U.S. National Guard units would have a range exercise. Drew ammo for the whole unit(call it 100 troopies), but not everybody would show up. The officers would have a latrine dug, put the excess ammo in said latrine, then they and the Senior NCO's would off load coffee into the latrine and have it filled in. I don't really believe it either. Makes for a good story though.

10,000 small rifle primers
5,000 1F brass
10lbs. WC-735 powder
2,500 .224 55gr SP bullets

What .223 shortage?

Unfortunately, most .223 ammo is over in Iraq.
The other contributing factor is that Americans are hoarding ammo more than food and water.

Try and find .380ACP or 9mm JHP ammo (good luck). The supply and demand situation will stabilize itself somewhere down the road. In the meanwhile, reloading is getting more and more attractive every day.

Griffoneurs house. Frontiers has 1000 round cases for 495 you could pick up a few of those to tied you over you can not easily buy 204 ruger by the case.
