Best Semi-Auto 22

i bought a ruger mk3 after reading so many great reviews of this gun. what i got is a lemon. a jamomatic. all ammo i have fed it has jammed. sometimes 3 jams in one magazine full. now after 5,000 rds. it will not stay open after the last shot. it closes on an empty chamber. my high standard trophy on the other hand, will eat ANYTHING i feed it, is more accurate, and a hundred times easier to field strip, and clean.

Thanks for the input guys... After doing some research i think i am going to try to get my hands on a S & W 41, it seems to be a safe choice. Hopefully i dont have to break the bank on it.

Cheers,

Gunner

High Standard's Citation and Victor were pretty good guns I can tell you from personal experience. Good triggers and sights and they function on a wide variety of ammo.

correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't a ruger 10/22 a rifle???

Not always. Looks like a great plinker to me...why just get one?

This would be my first pick... who said only accurate guns are interesting?

freezer filler, please reduce the size of your pictures.
There is no generic 'best' .22 pistol. You need to decide how much money you want to spend first. A .22 pistol can be a high end target pistol running about 2 grand or an entry level pistol running $300 to $400.
With any of 'em, regardless of the price of the pistol, you'll have to try a box of as many brands of ammo as you can to find that which will both shoot well and cycle the action. The price of said ammo means nothing.

S+W 2206 great gun when used with good ammo and cleaned regularily.CZ kadet great gun get the cadet kit or the whole gun.

Look around for a used Ruger Mk. 1 with the 5.5" bull barrel. Superb trigger, eats anything, reasonably cheap and they show up on the EE or maybe Armco's site fairly often.

I've put 3000-4000 rounds through my Ruger 22/45 Mark III. I've done a few mods to make it run more reliably and feel better in the hand. In the last 1500-2000 shots I've had 1 jam.

I want THAT GSG just for the looks I'd get at the range, which wouldn't be squat compared to the looks (and people begging to try it :D) I'd get out gopher hunting!!!!
