Crikey, what's the LOP on that beast?

Mine has a chromed steel plate right now, matches the gun as well as a silver scope would......I am going to make a piece of damascus like they use for knives to replace it.

Is the .222 sizing die cut off at the shoulder and honed out to .366 as at the shoulder unhoned it should be.358"? On the other hand a .219 Zipper is .365" at the shoulder?Thanx Harold

These threads about the 9.3x62 have gotten me interested in one. But it looks like I missed the boat as there are only a few listed on Tradex's site.

Just curious if there are any other sources for surplus rifles?

I priced out building one on a 98 action, but came to the conclusion it would be about the same cost, or more than a new CZ 550 in 9.3x62.

Any suggestions?

...Need a narrow European style leather sling now.Not some of the plastic/cloth cheapo ones seen around lately...

That reminds me I need to get working on my 9.3x57 Husky. I found three sources for those narrow slings, although I haven't bought one yet:

NEGC:

Kebco (about $20.00, I think)

Dixie Gun Works (also about $20.00)

BUM - FN 98? Husqvarna 640, perhaps?

Husqvarna 98. Can't remember the year of manufacture right off the top of my head and it's currently resting in my other safe in SK. Has the clip cutout on the rear bridge and original safety. I tried to build it up in the style of a 30's hunting rifle.

Crikey, what's the LOP on that beast?

Again, can't remember off the top of my head but likely around 14.75"

BUM is 12 feet tall.:D

Thereabouts.:D

From what I gather Harold the temper has to be removed from the die and then you once you determine the bore dia of your rifle, you trim the sizing die back until it spits out a swaged projectile to suit your needs. Trial and error until it is right.

As to BUM being 12' tall, he must be taking some mean vitamins. He was a big kid when I met him a year and a half ago, just don't recall him casting that big a shadow at WSS.:D

Ooooooooo me likes!

Trade Ex have tons of the "Kebco style" slings!.

They are made of a rubber coated (inside) nylon web with a simili-leather strip and leather ends.

Yes those are the ones I thought were kinda cheap looking. Not a fan of plastic.Harold I'm thinking leather strap but with the barrel mounted swivel it'll have to be a long one..........Harold

I know WSS sports had a name brand that came in the "euro" size - reasonable also-- maybe the Hunter brand??? They were around $30 when I bought a couple . Nice leather and lined.

You have to look to check which is the larger and smaller dimensions for each sling cause they look the same, but they did have them listed as different model numbers in their cateloge (sp!)

Ooooooooo me likes!

I'll probably order one along with an adjustable NEGC front sight, which will allow me to keep the fixed rear sight. The KEBCO ones look OK, too, and the price is right but I wonder about the quality for only $20 or so.

That front sight works great Stuart. Make sure you put a hood on to protect it though. Had one on a rifle that made sighting in a cinch. I think you have a broad selection for beads and posts with it too.

Thanks for the tip Baribal about TradeEx having these... that is the one that I like....I hate going to their site however as I am weak! :(:runaway:

Husky front site question
Does anyone make inserts for the factory front sites on these rifles?
Thanks....

You will find these in the "Military Surplus, Militaria" section, for 15.00 $.
I have plenty of those, but I personally prefer the leather slings.

I had a saddlemaker making quite a few of them in the past. If you have any fine leather goods manufacturer around, they are the ones you can deal with for a nice custom sling of your own taste.

Wich model of rifle are you referring at for the front sights?

Baribal I have both the 46 and 146 9.3X57's and I recently bought a small ring 98 Mauser in .308 that has the same type front site on it's barrel...These sites have the insert that must be pushed forward to remove, simular to the newer Brno's and CZ's but without the plunger keeper...I would like to change the inserts to a white bead or fire type site...I bought these rifles for open site use...
