Purchaced a 1911 last weekend

I've been busy here lately, I have been in New Jersey training for a new job for the last two months... it was bitter sweet, but to celebrate I came back home and bought one of these bad boys.

1911 Auto Ordinance. 7+1, 5' barrel, full commander size. The grips are brand new, I didn't like the factory ones. It shoots like a dream. A monkey could hit the target. Enjoy.

It's not a 'Commander'. Commanders have a 4.25" barrel. Five inches is a standard Government Model 1911A1 clone. Nice, grips just the same. I'd lose the plastic holster and mag pouches, but only because I make my own leather holsters and mag pouches.
"...get a new sear spring...get rid of that 7+ lbs trigger pull..." Takes more than a sear spring to do a proper trigger job on a .45.

I ordered them from cheaper than dirt. Their prices are excellent. There was a pair with the logo from the movie Punisher I almost got.

And it is a commander size. I was told 4.75' and up was Commander.

I prefer the Serpas. I'm an open carrier and I like the ease of which I can draw and shoot and still retain my firearm.

There are 3 sizes of 1911

#1. Government - 5" barrel (yours)
#2. Commander - 4.25" barrel (with the same frame size as a Government model)
#3. Officer - 4.25" barrel with a smaller frame size then the above 2.

Allot of people prefer to carry the 4.25" (commander) model as opposed to the 5" barrel Government.

There is no 4.75" barrel of any 1911 that I'm aware of. It's either 4.25" or 5".
 
Actually the officer's model has a 3.5" barrel.

The Concealed Carry Officer's (CCO) uses the top end of a commander (4.25" barrel) with an officer's frame (6 or 7 rounds depending on type of magazine used).

ofcuz. but without knowing what level of DIY gun smithing skill he has.my suggestion of dropping in a lighter spring is by far the cheapest and safest way for any one to bring down the trigger pull

Right now as this is my first 1911, I want to get the basics down before I start getting all fancy on it.

I have other firearms on my list that will be accessorized before my 1911. I want to get a scope for my Mosin. A rail, scope, tactical light and laser sight for my M4. I'm thinking of getting a 18.5' inch barrel for my Mossburg and a collapsible stock for it as well to maneuver better in the home for HD....

I have a wish list of things before a spring for my 1911. As for the trigger pull, it's really not that bad. My Taurus 85 snubbie is far worse on trigger pull than anything else I have.
