D & L Airguns in Langley only use DHL Express, the old Loomis. They are not using Canada Post which is much more expensive for the buyer.

To see where I am coming from, check my thread in the Legalese forum re: the stupidity of DHL and D & L.

D & L Airgun Firearm Shipping Rip Off

Got a scope from D&L shipped Canada Post, just a few weeks ago.

No problems, service was perfect.
Phone them..

Yes, but a scope in NOT a firearm.

My point is that most sellers of firearms have found Canada Post regular parcel post with tracking # and signature as the best choice.

D & L are using the a very expensive express service, DHL, who used to be Loomis and the delivery charge is very much more than if Canada Post is used. D & L have not informed themselves of what the requirements really are for satifying the CFC. Instead, they have been conned by DHL into using their service that supposedly records the signatures for all persons handling the package.

D & L Airgun, Langley, B.C. and DHL

From the response of several posters here, it is obvious that D & L have some friends.

The poster who mentioned having received his scope from them by Canada Post suggested that I phone. This I did and the results are given below. This is my last post on the Legalese Forum:

Well, my litany of woe concerning D & L Airguns in Langley, B.C. is hopefully in the resolution stage.:dancingbanana:

We had a phone conversation tonight and the proprietor was adamant and stated that he feels that he must use DHL for his own protection. He said that if he used Canada Post parcel service and the shipment was lost, he would not be able to claim for the value if it was a firearm.

In any event, he offered to refund what I paid in shipping and I refused, suggesting that we split it. This I feel is reasonable and I will await the credit on my Visa.

As I had also raised the matter in the Airgun Forum, I am in fairness to D & L, I'm cross posting this message there.

D&l

I'm not surprised he went half on the shipping . My dealings with D&L ,i found them to be most helpful and friendly ..... I wish more hunting & sporting goods companies would treat there customers as such :D....... when i go in to buy a
1000.00 hand gun ,i don't wanna see the clerk roll his eyes when i ask questions ... like he's doing me a great big favor ( to this day i never bought any fire arms from that chain )

D & L Airifle

I bought a Daisy 853C for my son and they shipped it via Canada Post. No problem at all. And fast too;)

Well, first of all, the Daisy probably does not have the velocity to qualify as a registerable firearm, or you too would have been stuck with DHL.

Secondly, the Daisy is a new inexpensive piece that D & L didn't worry about trusting to CP.

And lastly, D & L knew that my old Sheridan "Silver Streak" being not only capable of 500 f.p.s. but also being on an age that replacement parts are impossible to obtain, decided to use DHL.

I hope that this puts this thread to bed.:)

DHL delivery is the worst I have ever come across -- I have had full shipments of 25 guns (signature required) left on a neighbours deck (3 housed down the street). How stupid is that?

I've had GREAT service from D&L on parts but no experience with recieving a gun from them. On my next order I'll question their firearm shipping choice. As a good business I'm sure they will see the light if enough customers speak up for an alternative.

I'm not surprised he went half on the shipping .

Looks like DL was willing to go more than half and good on SOF for splitting the difference though am confused why SOF would not have known the shipping cost in advance - any business I bought from including DL has always let me know item cost, taxes, shipping cost... before I made a purchase. DL even provided this info when I only asked them if an item was in stock (quote good for 30 days).

Have also talked to them on the phone - would highly recommend.

D&L have always treated me well. As for DHL, that's another story and I won't use them again. Unfortunately, I would even go as far as going to another vendor, look for a subsitute product or do withoutif they use DHL. But that's me.......YMMV.

There's a reason DHL is known as "Don't Hurry Lads".

Used them before to ship things other than guns, and won't use them again. Overpriced and bad service.

I have ordered from them on a couple of occasions. I am on the East Coast, they have always seemed to go out of their way to confirm what you want. The delivery is prompt and well packaged. I will order from them again.

Didn't know Dl existed, so this thread has proved useful to me. But I hate expensive delivery, might as well order from europe if that is still an option. Doors closing all the time. Miss Hallams.

2x for D&L.

I purchased a few things from them and they had the best prices and best service.

I totally recommend them.

Cheers
