thanks for everyones ideas and suggestions in the last poll about what scheme to camo my new m14.

ive picked my pattern.. but now im presented with another dilema :) whic of course requires a poll :D

do i

A) camo the entire rifle.. stock, reciever, barrel, scope . the whole shebang

or

B) just the stock so i can switch stocks if need be without it looking strange

the mind boggles

I would go with my option C. Paint everything but the scope. Paint can be stripped off but I would guess that paint would void the warrantee on a scope. I use cam net on mine and plan on painting up a piece of burlap and wrapping it around my scope for my next paint job I have planned. Having said that if you have a scope mounted on your M-14 that you don't give a sh** about paint everything!

i only did the stock and handgaurd on mine, just to be safe and not paint somthing that i shouldnt have. but all the m14'sive seen with the barrels and receivers painted looked good. id say go for it. do the scope too.

well here are the ACU colours that ive got for the M14 .. i decided on ACU because i wanted it to look a little more modern

and heres the m14 primed, sanded and ready

note: i have to degrease the reciever and barrel and then give it a roughup and prime so its not included in the pic .. i will be painting the whole thing

I didn't vote yet because I need to know the intended purpose for your rifle. If it's for the odd range trip or service rifle matches I would paint only the stock, if it's more of a field rifle or SHTF rig I would paint the whole thing. I struggled with painting the Leupold on my Remmy 700P but it looks great and will likely always be mounted on LR tactial rifle.
Best of luck with whatever you choose.

well the homejob ACU is finished.. on reflection i should have used much more of the dark grey .. cant win em all :D

am now wondering if i rough the surface up with some steel wool and add more dark grey .. or strip it and make it something simple lol

Bullsh!t you did that yourself! It looks too good.
Nice try though.

Forgot to mention... if any random primed and sanded M14 stocks show up at your door, that'd be mine. Please apply the same camo paint job and return to said address. Thanks in advance! :D
