Well, the first annual "Running of the V-Bulls" F-Class match wrapped up this afternoon with a most relieved and thankful match director!

Saturday proved to be one of the most difficult shooting days I've experienced in Kamloops with storm-force winds and some shooters dialing as much as 5 minutes at 300M! When experienced shooters are getting 300M scores in the 50's out of 75 points, it tells you it that conditions were challenging, but I loved it. The harder the better i say!

Sunday was perfect. The sun was shining and the winds were very light.

This was our first match on the newly expanded 500M range and it was very satisfying to all of us that worked so hard to make this project happen. I think most of us agreed that the .5 MOA 500M target is much easier to shoot than the .4MOA cluttered 300M ICFRA target.

I was thrilled to have so many new faces at the shoot and in particular to our new friends from Alberta that made the trek! We hope to see more of you at both the Alberta and BC F-Class matches.

Before listing the results and Highlights, I would like to extend my deepest and most heart-felt thanks to the volunteer and supporters of this match. A special mention goes out to...

Jerry Teo (Mysticplayer) and Mystic Precision for their exceeding generous prizes including discounts coupons to all match particpants, and $75.00 coupons towards barrel purchases! I cannot thank Jerry enough for his help and support!!

The winners of the barrel coupons were...

Steve Fraser, Aubrey White and Bob Picairn - Congrats!

Thanks to Mark Anderson of The Powderkeg Shooters Supply for his many shirts, hats and mugs!

Thanks to Luc Thibault for his tireless gophering and to Marc for his help with setting up, Ron Hiller and Steve Fraser for their help and efforts, as well as Terry and Caroline Chupa!

Special thanks to Amy Berthelot , Collen Dreger and my wife April for manning the concession!

Here are the results, but the big winners were...

FTR:
1st: Brian Mylleville
2nd: Steve Fraser
3rd: Barry Prost

Benchrest:

1st: Cliff (Egg Foo) Young:D
2nd: Wendy Hiller
3rd: Mick McPhee

F-Open:

1st: Richard Dreger
2nd: Dave Assmus
3rd: Ian Hames

F-Factory/Sporter:

1st: Bruce Hegyi
2nd: Sean Carney

Top new shooter: Bruce Hegyi! Well Done Bruce!!!!!

The winners will have their names engraved on the Doug Fraser Memorial Trophy.

Thanks to one and all, and we will see you next shooting season!

Ian

F-Tac will consist of rifles conforming to section 2.04 of the BCRA Tactical Rifle Rules. Firearms that would fall under the "Open Tactical" definition shall fall within the F-Restricted Category for the purposes of this shoot.

(Yes Bill, you could shoot with a 30-06!)

The front rests are likewise specified, with Remple-style bipods and benchrest style rests not allowed. Rifle weights, trigger pull and barrel length will likewise be in accordance with the BC Tac-Rifle rules.

Targets: I would like to use fig 12/14 targets, but we may have to revise this depending on the number of registered shooters to a Target-rifle dimension target, which has a v-bull twice the dimension of the F-Class targets. I would like to preserve the essesnce of both disciplines, but we will revise this target decision based on the practicality of the ratio of shooters. F-Tac will not be shooting at the .4 MOA v-bull short range targets.

our/my intent is not to beat this to death with rules, but to find a balance that will allow everyone to have a fun and challenging shoot!!

Ian,

If you are still panning on shooting at 400m, we have no benches on the 100m mound. :) It will have to be a 300 and 500m only match of you include Bench.

Unless you have some other trick up your sleeve for that :D

i have a spare workmate bench that could be dragged out to 100 if needed

those old school desks with chair attached might be picked up for cheap at yard sale(is the season look out) or at the re-store up hill

make it a B.Y.O.B. event (bring your own bench)

I'm definately in, will send in the form when I get home from PG. Are you set up for EMT, or should I send a money order?

Hi All, In light of the fact that BCRA had to cancel matches due to scheduling conflicts at CFB Chilliwack, we have decided to make our match a combined F and TR match. We will still have all our classes, including FR FO, Bench, Sporter and Tactical!!!

The More the merrier!!!! See you there!!

So I have a Savage Model 10LE FCP McMillian. I just swapped the 308 Barrel for a 30" 260 AI. What class would I fall into..

Also my buddy has a Rem 700 in 338 Edge and he would like to shoot it in a competition. 30" barrel with a break. What class does he fall into??

The BCRA rules read like a piece of government legislation.

Where can we get more information? We may drive down from Edmonton AB to attend.

Thanks

Bill

Hi Bill, excellent questions and I sympathize with the "legislation"

260AI is a wildcat cartridge and would fall within the F-Open classification. (It is customized so would not be a sporter, and it is non-308/223 so would not fall inot the F-R or Tactical classes)

The 338 is likewise an F-Open gun, but brakes are not permitted, so he would have to lose that.

Both guns would have the potential to do extremely well!

Ian

yes Ian you know the rig that currently resides in the bin

would that be considered tactical or is barrell way to long???

p.s. i think i may get a new rig by then anyways

Entries have been added to original post...

****The Frosty Farky sold out more than a month before the competition! Do not miss out on your chance to shoot in this first match on our new 500M range!
