CZ75 Mag Question

Hope this isn't a dumb question, but i saw this post over on CanadaCarry. Has anyone else tried something like this with any other models? Glock for example? Any thoughts?

I'm new to handguns and learning allot on this forum. I looked around and couldn't find any topic similar. Id get one and find out.. but im still waiting for my PAL/RPAL.. since the middle of March.. cant wait..

My 9mm mag is "pinned" to 10 rounds.
My 40S&W mag is designed for 10 rounds max by design and is not "pinned".

You can load 15 rounds of 9mm in a .40S&W CZ mag and it will fire "flawlessly" in the 9mm pistol, all 15 rounds without so much as a hiccup. There is absolutely no modification necessary to do so. I found this out by "accident" as I innocently picked up a .40 mag and loaded 9mm. I was sure surprised when I got to 12 rounds and it still hungry for more! Both mags are 95% identical. The only small difference is the follower plate in the mag itself, which does not hinder the 9mm rounds at all.

And you can do so LEGALLY, because the .40S&W mag was designed to hold a max of 10 .40S&W rounds in a .40S&W pistol. The fact that this same mag will hold 15 9mm rounds and operate in a 9mm pistol is an unpublished "benefit". So when I want to fire a string of rapid fire 9mm, I just insert my .40 mag with 15 rounds into my 9mm pistol and blast away. No failures to load or fire. No ejection failures either."
 
Hmm, I would have thought that the feed lips at the top of the mag would have been wider apart for the .40. I'm surprised if it works without modification, and if you were to modify, that would be the illegal part.

+1,like he said,thinking after the first round the rest well fly out faster then a broken pezs dispenser.:D
 
Even if this works, your looking for trouble. The law won't give a #### about the details, they will just see a pistol mag with more than 10, therefore your busted.

You will get s*it for having 15 round in a 9mm but there is noting illegal about it. Its the same as the LAR-15 mags that hods 10 rounds. The mag was designed for a .40 S&W its just a fluke that is will work with 9mm. I have not tried it but I can't see any thing wrong with it. I will agree if you mod the mag (closing the feed lips) then I can see it being illegal.
 
I can't see it working without doing that. If the mags were actually exactly the same, then there'd be no way of proving it's for a .40, unlike the LAR mags which have it clearly printed on the side.
 
The same thing works with beretta mags the 10 rd 96 mags will hold 9mm just the same , I believe 15 rds of 9mm . Trick is it doesn't work on all mags just certain ones !
I used .40 XD mags in my 9mm Xd back when we had the evil assault rifle ban , but I did have to tweak the feed lips in some . I also modified Beretta 92 mags to fit my XD ,but with the ban gone I can get mags that hold 19 rds. I am going to modify a Beretta 92 mag to fit a Sig 226 as my next project , the same 92 mag that fits the XD !
 
Awwww, Texas... jealous. ;)

Oh, and my CZ mags are not marked as to the calibre at all... only a 5 and 10 by the holes to show loaded rounds. This includes the two that came with the pistol.

That's one angle i was wondering about. I didn't initially see it as being any different then the LAR-15 ruling but I'm not sure now. I'm going to look into this issue further.

I'm not interested in modifications to anything (not illegal), just if this fluke of 15 9mm's fitting in a .40 mag (and working well) has happened to more then one person and is therefore not a fluke but a design issue.

No, that won't work. I got the wrong mags with my cz-75B 9mm. I discovered this when I loaded in a cartridge and it popped right out. Upon closer inspection, the mags were marked .40.

I returned the mags to the store and was given two 9mm mags, neither of which were marked. One was a US version, unpinned which I was able to load 16 rounds into. I would wager that's what this guy had. Sadly I had to return mine for a legal 10 rounder.
