Reloading Equipment Shortage

all bids were made on almost all bullet mold for sale by members named X****X where 'X'=any alphabel letter.
So, I suppose, people selling these items are bidding themselves on them to jack up prices.

All ebay auctions now have hidden buyer names. The reason you are being outbid is because there is still huge demand on components in the states. People are paying a premium right now.

When I placed my Hornady reloading tool order about three months ago I was advised that it would be about 45 days until shipping. When we checked with Hornady yesterday they advised now about 180 days if we were lucky. I hope no one has any orders for Hornady tools with us as there is going to be a big wait for these products. To be fair all the other companies are in similar back order situations and the product is only trickling through. Phil.

If these companies are that far behind, maybe they should hire some of the 37 Million unemployed people in the US and run everything full-out 24/7. Or they like being 6 months behind in orders to ensure their future business won't dry up...

Comes back to supply and demand again. Keep the supply down, and the demand goes up, along with the price...

No US ammunition manufacture is going to spend capitol on a plant expansion
with obama in the white house, talking gun and ammo controls. Bad investment.

Who said expansion? I said hire some people and run your operation 24/7, instead of Monday-Friday...No cost to the company, as they will double their sales for a small wage payout...

Doesn't matter anyway, it'll never happen, as they want to keep the prices high...

I am looking at the ads in the exchange forum and there is many new press & accessories for sale - Hornady & Lee. Dante in Montreal has press, powder and a good range of equipment. So shop around..there is equipment for sale at normal price in Canada.

Nah, actually that doesn't work. Sure they get a whole bunch of button pushers to do the job, but when scrap goes up to more then acceptable levels they are losing money instead of making it.

It's kind of like Federal and Remington laying off a bunch of people a couple of months ago and saying that they're all caught up on their backorders and the layoffs are a result of lack of work. Why pay overtime, more equipment wear and tear, ect when you can put the stuff out at a trickle and get top dollar for it.

I would bet $$ that if they posted Help Wanted ads, they could hire Mechanical and Chemical Engineers to run the lines, not just a bunch of dummies, as there is a pile of professionals out of work down there.

I read an article recently where there were P.Eng guys that were mowing grass on a golf course, and they were happy to have a paycheck...

I thought that I heard some place that the new RCBS Rockchuckers were being made in China? FS

Rcbs

The Frames are made there they are finished machined in the US as far as I know.

Dimitri

Yes but wasn't there some very recent controversy regarding "play" in these new chinese parts, causing serious bullet runout issues, read about it on one of the loading sites recently. FS

Yes because being a Engineer means they know something about how things are made. :runaway:

Dimitri

Just saying, they can get some talented people right now if they wanted to, not just a bunch of chuckle-heads...

There are no real reasons for these shortages, just BS ones...
