Question about stock tube for Norinco M4

Is the stock tube for Norinco M4 milspec or commercial? If anyone could answer it would be great. I know the milspec tube is suppose to be 1.14" and the commercial is 1.17" but the difference is so slight that I can't measure it with a regular ruler. Thanks in advance =P
 
Mine functions flawlessly when eating winchester whitebox 62 grainers.
I'd wish the stock tube were a notch bigger, but that's a personal issue of mine and not of the rifle.

My stock tube was a bit oversize..made it really hard to slide the stock..anyway I had a milspec stock that I wanted to put on it so I replaced the tube with a milspec one..
 
I think they're an amazing deal for the money, I'm mounting a small scope on mine and as soon as I get it zeroed we'll see what it can do. I've only function tested it so far (100 rounds for shzts and giggles), but if it'll eat that WWB stuff it'll eat anything.
 
Anyone know if the Norinco M4 is chambered for 5.56 NATO? you know.. since it technically is called CQ 5.56.
I know ar-15's are generally only meant to shoot .223.

The overwhelming majority of AR15 style rifles are chambered for, and designed to shoot military grade 5.56x45mm NATO

There are a few with .223 Remington chambers, and the US export regs now prevent 5.56 and 7.62 rifles from being exported, but its easy enough to ream the chambers to 5.56 mil-spec dimensions, once they arrive in Canada.

Commercial diameter...

Now the important question....is the receiver metric threaded or imperial?

ie can receiver extension be replaced with common commercial or milspec tubes?

Yes it can, no issues what so ever. The Norc M4 will accept all parts from any LPK, in fact it's more compatible than an early Colt
 
so before any modifications to the barrel for the Norc M4, can it safely fire 5.56 NATO? because I've heard that 5.56 has slightly more power in it and is unsafe to fire from a regular rifle chamebered for .223.
 
Norc M4 uppers are built to military specifications, therefore they are chambered in 5.56, 223 will work fine in them.
 
Isn't 5.56 x45 just a nato/metric designation for .223 rem. as well 7.62 x51 the nato/metric designation for .308 win. I was under the impression these rounds existed 223 and 308, and were adopted and then referred to as 5.56 and 7.62 in there military context.

There's some subtle differences between the two, mostly pressure specifcation (5.56 high pressure), case capacity and brass thickness.

Rule of thumb: 223 in a 5.56 chamber okay. 5.56 in a 223 chamber not okay.
