These things really are pretty good. I'm not a big fan of SAO triggers, but with the thumb safety, I don't mind so much.
The black gun is a Para LTC - 9mm and the Stainless gun is a Colt Combat Commander. I just acquired these recently from the EE and they both are very nice to shot and hold.
The grips on the Colt came from a place in South Carolina called Tommy 2 Feathers Custom Carving and were custom carved in Water Buffalo horn.
The grips on the Para are from Raasco and are Hawaiian Koa. They are truly 3-D in the way the lines and shading changes with just a few degrees in angle.
Both sets fit like a glove and are really well made. I'm impressed, as I could never make anything that nice even if my life depended on it.
If you don't own at least one 1911, you should sell something and buy one. I've owned 20 or so handguns over the years and the 1911 is really an outstanding platform.
Oh, and just for the record. If SHTF and Western Civilization collapses as we know it, I'm still reaching for my Glock. No joke.
