Bass Pro to carry reloading supllies

I was standing at the gun counter at the BP in Vaughn Mills yesterday and the guy ahead of me was asking about reloading powders.

The clerk said that they had got out of it years ago, but that sometime in July or August of this year they were going to get back into it in a "big way". He went on to say that they were going to be setting up a 60 foot aisle just for reloading.

I guess time will tell.
 
I guess they have to do something. There's no other reason for shooters to go to that store. In fact, there's no reason for anyone to go to that store.

Keep in mind, though, that the City of Vaughan bans them from selling anything related to handguns.
 
Are there any BassPro shops out west?...
I thought I read some time ago that they planned on more stores in western Canada...A search only showed the Ont. store...I am looking for a "John Boat" for my neighbor is why I ask...

well I surely won't waste my time driving down to check to see if they might have it this summer......someone let me know when or if it does happen. what a joke that store is....
 
There's a new BP just north of Calgary......The one in Vaughn carried some reloading supplies when they first opened, but they knew nothing about it and probably were lost when it came to re-ordering. They also carried a good stock of factory shotgun shells.
 
They might be able to stock reloading supplies, but their sales associates are much better at selling flannel shirts and camo lunch buckets than knowing the nuances between large rifle primers and magnum rifle primers. Don't expect much.
 
BP in Calgary (opened a month or so ago..) won't be selling be selling any "restricted weapons" (as they put it..), nor ammunition for same. As above, great place for flannel..
 
I won't be holding my breath exactly because of what V65magnafan said. If it does come to Bass pro, I think it will be in a very watered down, hunting loads only kind of fashion.

They carry 9mm, 40S&W and 45ACP. Not sure about .223, since I don't shoot it (yet). Too bad about the restricteds, I was hoping for some competition for WSS.

My long standing bad attitude toward Bass Pro (Canada) and their substandard sevice as well as the "bonehead" staff would prevent me from being too hopefull that their reloading section would be worth the powder it would take to blow it up !!!!!
Patronize your local dealer. That way, they will still be in business when you really need them.

On a trip in the spring of '08 through the U.S. I was in 18 different states and at least one BP store in each state. When it came to reloading and firearms they all sucked. I would suggest that no one hold their breath when it comes to things changing for Canada.
 
As a shooter, I would judge the Calgary store as a monumental failure.
Unless there is a major improvement in their stock, I have no reason to go back.
 
I went to the one in Vaughn on Sat. for my first trip to BP. I asked a guy where the reloading gear was and he told me that they were going to be getting 60 ft but RCBS, Hornady and everyone else couldn't meet there sales expectations so it was all cancelled. Then I asked where the handguns were, then 223, 308, 9mm, 45 or even 22.

I won't be going back.

I went to BPS on the same Saturday. I didn't ask a guy. I walked along the aisle and found reloading dies sets in three rifle calibers. It's a good sign. At least they try to bring reloading gears to BPS.

I concur. I was very saddened to see their lack of stock. I called them and boy, it was just like WSS. "Gee, I dunno when we are getting more of that in.....could be months!":mad:

Enough of that crap, called up Murphs outdoor equipment in Sundre and ordered it through him. I don't care if it costs a bit more, at least I'll get some service. Nice to help the little outfits too.
