EESA Grand Tournament 3 gun match

Here are some pics that FBImagery took of me, shooting the Remmy with Knoxx Spec Ops, these were 3" S&B Slugs. Pretty cool. Notice how much the stock moves, with relation to the rear sight and the stick behind it, and how much my head moves. These shells fully depressed the spring, and you can see how much muzzle rise there was, when the stock got to its full compression.

I will have to get him to film me, with the lighter loads, and see how much difference there is.

I would have liked to have been able to video the guys that were using the full chokes in their guns, our friggen poppers would "Jump Up" like a foot, after being hit. What advantage, if any, do you perceive, for using a full choke at 25 yards and closer? Or do you not know any better, or, do I not know any better.

Personally, shooting number 8's at a 20 yard popper, IC Choke, has no problem knocking it down, with authority, it you centre the popper in the pattern. What is the advantage of using a full choke then. Saw a number of guys using full chokes, why?

Full chokes, have, in my experience, patterned poorly with lead slugs, why not use a more open choke. Maybe I am missing something?

Everyone was accusing me of using a turkey choke. I was shooting 7 1/2's through a 28" barrel with a modified choke. Apparently the plates were either jumping back about 10' or were being buried into the berms.

Thanks to all that had a hand in putting on this great match, and thanks for that box of S&B sport slugs - my shoulder feels fine.

It's also worth mentioning....

The match is not over...until the scores are posted (IMHO)

I hope everyone appretiates (and I know they do) the fact that after setting up...being there all day...and tearing down...John also got the scores out "the next day"

I notice the scores for Smiths Falls are also out (a day later)

It's not a knock to any match that takes longer (we all have other things to do) but it is worth noting the extra effort when the scores get done this fast.

...and Ron...I think they were just calling you a turkey :D

We can all thank John Mc for introducing those slugs.

He was kind enought to give some to my son (Diablo) two years ago when we shot a match at Barrie (he was 14 at the time and had trouble absorbing the recoil). We loved them and started to order them for the EESA IPSC Crew in bulk.

I guess in retrospect I should have added the cost of the slugs into the match fee and provided them for everyone!

As to the scores. I know that when I shoot a match I stay glued to the computer looking for the results. As such I always try to make an effort to get them out as fast as humanly possible. That said it is nice that it was noticed.

Yes, Storm, we all noticed the quick release of the scores. Very commendable indeed. I don't expect them out that soon, but it is a nice touch to get the results out that quickly. Thanks.

Someday you will have to reveal those words you were thinking about me.....I guess there is still the pistol portion of the match for you to "unleash". LOL!!! :D
