I've been to a few gun shows and finding one that isn't Turkish, Argentinian and is German in origin is tough to find.

If anyone has any idea where to find one in good firing condition near Toronto, please advise.

You need to do a lot more research.

What he said.

If you're looking for a Gew 98, that'll be different than a Kar 98, both made in germany. There are variations of both.

Gew 98 was WW1, K98 was WWII to put it simply. They were made by or for germans, and were often captured, sold, or refurbished by other countries.

Sorry for the late reply.

I am aware of the Kar98a and b models being used in WW1 but my main interest is in the 1898 Mauser.

I have seen a Kar98a on Elwood Epps but it was heavily and sadly "sporterized" beyond recognition.

I know I get the designation for the 1898 mixed up but whatever you guys refer to it as, I would greatly appreciate additional help in locating one.

Thanks

The second from the top WAS JUST SOLD ON HERE ...i MAY SELL THE BOTTOM ONE AS WELL BUT IT IS AN ALL MATCHED RIFLE SO ITS PROBABLY GOING TO BE EXPENSIVE...

Looks like I'm going to have to put some money away for a rainy day then :D.

What about the other ones, are any of them up for grabs ? Also, the top one doesn't resemble a typical Gewehr 98 (stock wrist looks like my Gewehr 88). Is that one a Turk or Spanish ?

Boer Mauser

The top one is a 7mm Boer Mauser captured by 2RCR at Paardedburg, probably the rarest one in the pic.the other G98 is a minty all matched example which will be here antilI leave in a box....the bottom matched example may be for sale in the 800-900 range soon.
