AR-180b

I'm not selling them, its a personal project.

I'm also not posting anything about it until it is done since the mods got all pissy last time I tried to brainstorm design ideas. Don't hold your breath.

im just impressed when ever someone had the machining and technical skills to do some thing like this. On the other hand my neighbour does have a machine shop in his garage;) think you could send along some those blue prints for the aluminum lower :D lol

Actually, I did designed up a bolt together AR180B aluminum lower that can be completely machined easily on a manual mill. It uses an AR15 lower parts kit and M4 stock.

Maybe I should sell the plans, lord knows the extra cash would be good for the project!

I'm sure you would find a lot of interest Armed. I for one would be. I am now going to hold my breath!! lol

[...snip...]

but then John Moses Browning never invented anything new and look at his designs.

Tell that to the guys at the patent office, 126 plus times... and in the early days, he did it all with steam powered tooling.

So, no offence intended, but are you serious...? Really...!!?

Browning did not invent anything new. He built upon existing ideas and concepts.

John Moses Browning (January 21[1] or January 23,[2] 1855 – November 26, 1926), born in Ogden, Utah, was an American firearms designer who developed many varieties of firearms, cartridges, and gun mechanisms, many of which are still in use around the world. He is the most important figure in the development of modern automatic and semi-automatic firearms and is credited with 128 gun patents—his first was granted October 7, 1879.

A patent is a set of exclusive rights granted by a state to an inventor or his assignee for a limited period of time in exchange for a disclosure of an invention.

The meaning of invention is the creation of a new configuration, composition of matter, device, or process.

Browning was a design genius...one of his gifts was the ability to take a design and improve upon it...so much so, that he was able to obtain a legitimate patent for his "invention." That is why some say JMB never "invented" anything new.:)

Enjoy your first black rifle. Don't pay any mind to comments of it being a cheap piece of junk. It may not be an AR-15, but for what it is, it does it's job well in my opinion.

ya i have reds, milsurps, hunting rifles and shotguns but my collection felt lonely without a black gun in there and i had to remedy that fast:D. I like the look or the 180b better then an ar15 actually.......(the #### can now commence to fly lol:D)

Ar 180b

I own one and have had it for 1 year now. I love it! Great shooter non-rest. goodness.Bought the 10round mags changed the fore stock. Some people say it's not that accurate pfft! I have no problems hitting my targets at 100 yds open sights. Bought mine off this board from another CGN user.

Mine groups about 3 inches at 100 yards with irons and cheap bullet.

not trying to be an A@# but wow 3 inches at 100 yrds glad i missed out on the 180 now.The xcr i had was 1 1/2 with irons and wincester white box 55 s a little better with 62s even an a 50 year old sks with czech surplus can shoot much better. havent tried my new xcr yet but for 600 bucks more u get a quad rail , nice iron sights and an alumimum lower. what would that cost for the 180. if the 180 wasnt built by armalite no one would give it a second look. I have to agree with the ar 15 guys on this one. and yes i can take my xcr wherever i want

I've been thinking up little projects and have a question. Is there any interest for the crank style AR18 bolt charging handles?

You'd have to send me your bolt carrier to mill the anti-rotation slot. Cost for an installed crank handle would be under $100.
