It's the same stuff. Nowhere on the case does it say "7.62x43" nor did the Soviets/Warsaw Pact call it that.

It's 7.62 M43 and the Czech cases say 7.62 - 43 on them. Makes sense, eh?

awesome thanks guys.

Let me ask here instead of opening a new thread - when I ordered my SKS from TradeEx (will come this week, can not wait) - dude said he can not ship an ammo with it, not allowed. So I came to HW404/Stoufville place and purchased a crate for 225+tax (btw, opened it in just 10 mins:)

Is that true you can not ship ammo by mail?
If yes, is there a place around GTA with better price?

Thank you!

(I will have a lot more stupid questions when it arrives :))

The best place in Ontario that I know of is Ellwood Epps @$179.00ea it's marked 7.62x43 as well.

The only ammo I know of that is "xxmm x 43mm" is 6.8mm SPC, which is 6.8mm x 43mm.

It SHOULD be listed as M43/M-43 or just 7.62x39mm, otherwise it's just a mistake by whomever typed up the listing. AFAIK, 7.62x43mm doesn't exist.

The S&B 7.62x39 ammo crates does have a 43 marked next to the caliber (7.62)
Under the former Soviet system 7.62x39 ammunition with a mild steel core projectile was designated Type 43 ball ammunition.

The reason for this is that chambers can run anywhere from 39mm to 43mm in length, accuracy takes a back seat to production numbers overseas.

Is it really? Or is it 7.62 - 43 ? An "X" is different than a "-" ya know! :p

But hey some people even do it with scopes. A scope that zooms from 1x to 3x power and has a 30 mm objective lens is 1-3x30 not 1x3x30 or 1x3-30.

Do you have a link to where we can find this fact?

Check out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.62x39mm it has some good info.

You can't ship ammo and firearms together. Canada Post won't ship ammo at all.
