What do you do with coyotes?

That is true if you are hunting. But if are culling predators on your own property or are a registered agent you don't have to live within the hunting regulations.

check again I'm not going to argue the point if you shoot a fur baring mammal and you have a small games license you can not allow the pelt to spoil its pretty cut and dry.

 ethics boys, find someone that wants the pelt, before the hunt. I have some coyote on a couple back quivers, very cool.

100%

for anyone who is not clear on the regs check out pg 74 of the regs which describes furbearing mammals and a small game licence is needed. There is also something about possessing pelts after the season closes and having to get a free license to possess pelts.

Then go to page 78 and read the definition of Furbearing mammal, which includes coyote.

Then go to page 27 and read......."A hunter who kills a furbearing mammal shall not abandon the pelt or permit the pelt to be spoiled or destroyed."

And finally if need be go to page 79 and read the definition on pelt..."The untanned skin of a furbearing mammal, whether or not the skin is on a carcass."

I've never hunted coyote but there's gotta be some use for the pelts/meat. This is a longshot but wouldn't some of the exotic pet places ie. Jungle Cat World or Toronto Zoo be able to use the meat?

Doh! That's what I was afraid of.

I don't want to deal with the pelts, guess no coyote fun for me even if they a nuisance to the local farmers...

are we talking what the law says or what actually gets done whats being discussed in this thread is illegal. The law states you must pelt fur baring animals you can not let the pelt of a fur baring animal spoil. The only exception to the rule is if the pelt is worthless and not worthless from not selling at auction because even if you get .01 it has a value according to the MNR only mange and sever pelt damage make the pelt worthless.

I brought this up in the fall and was flamed to death for saying I leave yotes in the bush or toss them on the bait pile.

Shoot as many as you can and keep you're mouth shut. :D
You will be rewarded by seeing more game animals next year, and a few less coyote.:)

I don't worry about the regs on this one. Its called protection of livestock, and I'm shooting them on the farm. Every one I shoot saves the municipality $$. Farmers here get paid by the Township per animal when they kill livestock. I can also shoot a spring bear if its near the pasture.;)

ya I know the good it does for farmers and big game I just found a 3yr old buck skull and spine on the farm this past weekend and skat every where. but our CO is a complete douche I know for a fact he would nail me to the cross the stories I have heard of the things this guy has done are unbelievable.

My buddy his 3 sons and 2 friends were hunting on crown land this douche sat in his truck watched them take all their blaze orange off and load up the SUV to go home. The gear was piled to the roof with not a single inch to spare. They pull out on to the road and he cuts them off walks over and tells them to get out of the truck. He asks for their hunting licenses looks them over and then asks to see their hunter orange. This is after he was sitting on the other side of the road watching them get changed. Buddy goes are you kidding me I know you saw us walk out of the woods wearing our blaze orange. CO replys ya but I got to make sure its real blaze orange and makes them completely unload the truck now in the pitch black and -10 with crazy wind......guy is on a power trip!!!

rather not deal with his s**t.....I'll dump a yote if I see one while out tending the fields, my plots, building a stand or hunting but I don't think I will be going out specifically for them anytime soon.

Hey srt, CO's have the right to search, but I'd say have fun and do the search you're self.

And don't forget where everything was.
And hold him accountable for putting everything back. Dont even get out of the truck.
In other words, put everything back in my truck you'reself, the way it was..

You'll find they get passive when YOU draw a hard line.

Otherwise you will get walked on all you're life.:D Try it, you'll see...

ummm they are under same rules as a cop are they not ? i'd tell him to get a warrant and i'll gladly sit here till he can get one , since HE has to appear before a magistrate or j of p or whatever to get one. Make his life as hell as possible . They never bother me , i do work for conservation , and they know better , i'd have them crucified for less than that.

i just throw them in the dead pile or leave them for more bait in the fields. They aint worth crap so i dont waste my time with them stinky bastards.

I have my trappers license , i shoot 'em , skin 'em and sell 'em , set the rest out for bear bait. Except for one I shot last year , what an exceptional pelt he had , no mange and was just gorgeous , he is with my rcmp/taxidermist buddy atm , getting turned into a full head mount wall hanging :) Wouldn't do it for most coyotes but this one was an exception to the rule incredible fur this boy had

First of all, I like to get creative, so I find a use for all hide.... plus, what better excute for testing out a new knife???

But I would like to here more info on :

I work in bee keeping, and I was under the impression that I needed to call the MNR here in ONT to take care of bears that run my hives unless its in season and I have a tag.... knowing that I am justified without tags, and could possibly get $$ from the Muni would be welcome news.... Anyone have a reference point that I could look up in the regs?

ps. Bring Back the Spring Bear Hunt....

We need some pics of that. Ya i dont usually leave them but the guy i donate them to had sugury this year and wasnt taking them. We shot some nice yotes this year also, including a 65 lb one and he was nice and a very fast runner. He almost had to dark of a coat to be a yote but he must have been crossbread with soemthing to run like he did.
