Hey gang,

I recently purchased a P30-L with the LEM (CDA) trigger. My first trip to the range last night produced some of the most accurate shooting I've done to date. However the gun seems to be hurting my trigger finger with each shot. To the point where I start to flinch because I know the pain is coming. I have fairly short fingers and when I grip only the tip of my finger is on the trigger. When i depress the trigger all the way the recoil from the gun seems to drive my finger into the bottom of the trigger guard.

Does anyone else with a P30 have any similar issues?

Have you tried putting on smaller size grips panels and backstrap?

I'm shooting P30L, feels very comfortable with largest sides and back inserts.

You say "...when i depress the trigger all the way recoil... drive my finger ". Are you saying that you are dropping your finger at the moment it shoots? Why would you do that? Seems to me that you are going something wrong with your trigger finger if the gun recoils on your depressed trigger finger with bottom of the guard.

I keep pressing the trigger fully to the end until the gun recoils and I get follow through sight picture. Only after the gun is back from recoil I relax the finger and depress till the trigger resets, I keep contact and light pressure all the time and the trigger and tip of my finger. Absolutely zero issues with finger tip hitting anything or hurting from the shot.

I am currently using the smallest grips. The best way to explain the problem is that due to my hand and ergonomics of the gun after the trigger is fully pulled back my finger is resting at the tip of the trigger and the bottom of the guard. I am not sure exactly what happens next as the gun fires, but I think as the nose lifts up my finger tip goes under the trigger a bit and gets pinched between the bottom of the trigger and the guard.

Does this happen with one hand grip or 2 hand grip or both?

Its it strange how you end up with tip at the bottom of the trigger. It shouldn't be, especially with small hands. Could you make a picture of your hand on the gun? Cellphone camera is fine.

just to get an idea

you are gripping the gun low,..you should be gripping it higher,....if it was higher your finger would be in the proper position. You may also be gripping it too lightly/gently.

I have to say, this was the first HK poly framed pistol I liked. I shot owlowl's at the IDPA course on the weekend and was quite impressed. Now I am not sure what grip panels he had in, but it was nice.

I shot mine at an IDPA/CDP match a few weeks ago,...I have to say it worked flawlessly. I should probably clean it,...I think it has about 650rds thru it. (just barely broken in LOL)
I am using medium rear panel as I found my finger was in too far and bending back to press the trigger. I am using the small side panels. What is great about this pistol is the ability to use just about any configuration for grips considering the panels for each side and rear have three different sizes. You could even use a L on one side and S on the other,.etc.. The recoil spring is lighter than the USP series,...and the front serrations make racking the slide easy and for me more comfortable.

Wow - you must have really small hands. You may have to go to a different pistol if you have the smallest grip panels in. That or cut the front off the trigger guard.. Here's a thought though....try shooting with thin gloves. It might make a difference.

me?,..if so I don't use he trigger guard...some do but I don't like it.

I haven't changed the side/back straps on mine and the trigger/trigger guard/grip is fine for my index? All I can think you're referring to is touching the mag release as you're depressing the trigger?

FYI,..there is a new version of the P30-L coming out called the S model,...basically a P30-L with an ambi safety like the one on the HK45. I was hoping it was just a part I could buy,...but apparently the frame is different on the P30-L and P30-L-S.???? Methinks this is BS,...probably just the S is painted on the S model (I ended up buying a new safety lever for my USP to go from V1 to V9,...because someone at HK said I needed to. In reality, I only needed a new detent plate. ( I tested it) I doubt very much HK has two seperate P30-L frames,....they actually have one frame for the P30 and P30-L....

Call HK's tech support and discuss your problem: if there is a solution they will tell you. I know that I found the trigger on Glocks irritating until learned not to let the trigger reset all the way before firing follow up shots. I hope you find a solution. Regards, Richard:)

Yea, I really don't get it. I've noticed it too and I'm really wondering if perhaps it's not as great as has been published?

Nahh.
Just the usual 'turnover' when a new model hits the streets.
I had a 'regular' (DA/SA) P30L, but when I tried the LEM version...I knew I was in love!
It is very similar to the ParaOrdnance LDA trigger which I use on my IPSC Production gun...very much like a very good DAO revolver trigger.
I bought the LEM version and sold my DA/SA version.
Nothing wrong with it...I just prefer a consistent trigger pull.
