You can laugh at me later.

When mounting a bipod, should the legs fold forward or back?

I have not installed one before and it is the last thing to go on my M305.

You can start laughing after you give me the correct answer.:p

You should mount them to fold forward, because when you will shoot standing the legs will not disturbed you to hold the rifle.

My bipod folds backward on one of my guns, because it sits at the far front on the receiver, and there is nothing to support it if i folded it forward.

However, whatever is more comfortable to you, and depending on how the bipod fits to your gun. Also, not sure if this is just my bipod, but it locks in the open position so you may lean both forwards on it without fear of folding, and recoil backwards won't fold it either.
