pistol for a woman

What semi auto pistol would your recommend for a woman? My wife has been thinking about coming shooting with me so now I am thinking about a pistol for her.

I agree in proncipal with stevo, but do not short sell her a pistol and get her a .22

get her a 9mm or bigger, I like the M&P 9mm myself for women, it has a lot of options for grip size.

A girl I'm seeing now thinks the M&P is the devil (it recoils too much for her). She prefers my .45ACP, ironically (less recoil) and loves the Sig Sauer Mosquito. She had zero experience before this.

Really depends on the girl. Mine prefers the Px4 and S&W 629 PC.

PX4 9mm. Low recoil (rotating barrel) and it comes with removable straps so you can change the grip for small, medium, or large size hands. It also comes with different size mag release buttons etc. Lots of safety options on the F model.

Glock 17C is a good choice if she gets lots of muzzle flip of a normal 9mm.

Let her shoot a bunch first and see how she does and what she likes.

but they are still under a grand and you can put it in anyones hand and if they listen they will do well

Women have in my experience prefered the recoil-negating heft of the CZ.

Take her to a gun range, on a handgun night, and let her try out a few. She what she likes the best.

It depends entirely on what she is going to use it for? IPSC? IDPA? casual plinking?

My wife has a M&P9. Even shoots IDPA with it.

The M&P9 has a very small grip, but it is light, so the recoil would be too much for most women. Take her to the gun store and let her pick up a feew steel framed guns like a CZ75 and see what fits her hands. Or like others said, take her to a pistol shoot night and let her fire a few, people will have no problem, everybody wants to encourage new shooters.
