Hi Gents ...

I picked this up recently thinking it was an aftermarket Sig 226 magazine, but it is not. It's a 9mm ( I loaded it and went to stick it in the gun and no dice.. ) but that's about all I know. Spent a couple hours surfing Google, but can't find one that looks like it. There are no markings whatsoever, so I am hoping some one can positively ID it for me.

Thanks in advance .. DT

Does that floorplate have a cut-out, or is it broken?

That magazine might be one of the old double-stack 9mm magazines for the first model Para Ordnance hi-cap 9 pistols. Current magazines are usually silver in finish, but the originals were blued. The striation lines running the length of the body rule out the Hi-Power, but these are characteristic of the Para and of a few other first-generation 1911-style double-stack 9mm guns such as STI, and Strayer-Voight.

Also, might help to know what the '7' marking is all about, and to see under that piece of tape on the back heel of the magazine body.

I have a Hi-Power, doesn't fit it either. ( two guns ruled out .. ) The '7' is a crude engraving job, not sure what it means. The grip-tape on the floorplate is going to be a b*tch to remove, but I'll strip it off to see if anything is under it. The floorplate has a set-screw sticking out of it, but appears original and unbroken. The floorplate also has a wavy step in it sort of like a CZ 75 mag. Nothing under the sticker on the back of the mag either, prolly an old price ticket.

I wanted to shout out "Beretta!" some of the M9 mags look very similar but I think the mag release cut out is on the other side and is further down the mag itself.

They look very simular to CZ 75 mags that my brother has. I'll have a look at them the next time I am at his place and compare them to the pictures.

Looks like an early CZ mag (pre-B, possibly military production?? The mags for my CZ 85 looked very similar, it was a military production unit)

yeah maybe, but the floor plate seems abit off (I use to have an 85)

You could always go to www ammoclip com and browse through the site...

wow ..sillymike, I surfed ammoclip until I was bleary ... lotta mags .. but still no dice. Going to just keep it in my range bag and hopefully check it against other members guns as I go. Someone has to recognise it sooner or later .. :)
