Savage Mark II "G"

Well folks I just ordered one too (albeit left-handed ;)).

As soon as I know she's shooting straight, I'm cutting up the stock and making it all "tacticool".

My 93GL is the workhorse, the MK.II is for play. :D

Well she SHOULD shoot straight although yours is a left handed model so I'm not so sure  :D

Welcome to the club! We need jackets!

I wish there was a place to buy replacement or aftermarket stocks for these rifles because they are so fun and accurate!

Does anyone have a suggestion for a decent inexpensive 3-9 scope for one of these? I'm currently running a Bushnell Sharp Shooter which is borrowed off a friend and it's nice but I like to head other suggestions.

Indeed!

There USED to be a place down south that made custom stocks for a decent price (about what we paid for the rifle, maybe a bit more :D), but that's no longer an option with the US's $100 export limit...

I love my Mk.2 G that I bought last December 2nd from Wholesale Sports for $190. It's got the accutrigger, open sights, and the slots to attach scope rings. I love this gun so much. I can very easily shoot spend shotgun shells sitting at 75 yards. It takes a little bit more to hit them at 100, but it's still not hard. Anything at 50 yards is super easy to hit. I will keep this gun until the end of my days. Unfortunately, I lost the original magazine somewhere in a bunch of snow during winter and had to buy a new one at a gun show.:kickInTheNuts:

ETA: I have a Bushnell 4x .22lr scope on it

The scope is a little big, I like to see the fear in the eyes of my kill.
Its a 2.5x10x42 Tasco. I had to take off the rear sight for the bell to clear, theres about .090 of room.

As for the wood, this was a rack gun.

I prefer big scopes! :D

Currently looking for a new one thus the reason I asked....

Nice review.
Where did you get the bipod?
Had mine out today (shooting some poker)

Bipod was given to me by a friend.

Here's a new picture of the Savage:

One shot (50 yards):

There was a little luck with the shot above (couldn't really see the tab) although this Savage is VERY accurate!

Their great little rifles. If your ever bored one cold Winter Night, all you need is some time, some booze and some sandpaper to get rid of the 'walnut finished hardwood' look.

I've shot my MKII out to 200 yards on paper and it holds it's own pretty well.

Wow those are beautiful! I did that with an old Cooey I had that belonged to my dad and then "re-oiled" it with simple sunflower cooking oil as a test. Turned out pretty good in fact....
