All further shipments of Russian SKS's will be pinned in the Ukraine with that big ugly block in the bottom of the mag and then restamped matching on the side of the mag box. No more of the good pinning jobs... Only 2000 of the properly plugged ones kicking around.

thats what i heard but i was hoping it wasnt true , so sad .
 
Just received this email from Cabelas:

Last year you had placed the type 56 SKS on backorder, we still haven't received these, we did get a shipment of 200 only the 1945 Russian SKS, it has true Tula Arsenal markings, comes with a bayonet, sling and cleaning kit and is in very good condition. The price is $259.99 but we are offering a $60.00 discount bring the price down to $199.99. Please advise if you would like to sub this one for the other.

I said sure, so I guess I’m going to end up with a Franken pinned, black bolt stump whacker after all.
It will feel embarrassed and gruesome sitting beside my Frontier and Moving target rifles, but I’ll let it be the black sheep of my SKS family.

Save the pretentiousness, skip the Cabelas order, and let someone who will actually SHOOT the gun and ENJOY the gun have a chance at buying it..
