Hi I am new here and trying to figure things out. Does the Swiss arms blue star qualify for the service rifle matches? Does anyone have a blue star? Is it any good?

The original Swiss SIG 5 hundred series rifles are incredible rifles. For a while in the '80s the Swiss rifle club in Montreal had a bunch. Just about every piece had that, 'Humm? what can we do better' look of engineering perfection. I liked the see-through mags, the rubber gasket on the cocking lever slot, the drum sight, the fold-over trigger guard, the really comfortable grip, the best-ever folding stock, the bipod, 300m accurate ... And then the feds decided they had to be made prohibited.

The current Swiss rifles are apparently slightly less refined, but hopefull just as good.

I currently own, a Blue Star or "Smurfgewher", Classic Green & CQB. All are extremely well made rifles and they give up absolutely nothing to earlier SIG 55X rifles. Not to pick a fight, but after handling/using an original SIG 550, I don't see any of my current Swiss Arms rifles as being "...slightly less refined." They sure as heck are just as good!:)

Blue Star, Classic Green, Black Special, etc...are fine for Service Rifle competition.:)
