Hello guys, I'm a newly IPSC shooter, just got my Blackbadge recently. I'm having small issues with my CZ mags, They stick. I was thinking of stripping the paint off and ploshing the bear metal. Would there be issues with IPSC with this if I'm shooting in Standard? I'm thinking no, but wanted to confirm. Any other tricks I could do to insure the mag releases like butter?

The mag release catch inside mag well, may not be retracting enough when depressed to cleanly release the mag, and drag on the mag body causing friction.
A little moding of the catch would resolve this.
I would look for things inside the mag well before doing things to mags.
I have seen some grips that was the cause of mags not dropping clean from mag well.

Depending on which model of CZ you are shooting, you can just change the original mag break for one in stainless. It's a 10$ piece that might solve your problem. I would give it a try first before changing anything else. You can get that part from CZ Custom in the US.

Good luck

It's a CZ 75B SA. If I drop the mag while the gun is vertical, there's no problem, but if I tilt the gun while dropping the mag, it jams. All my mags do this. It's not the grips, we checked that. The mag release button seems to go to far when pushed in to hard and catches the side of the mag, the it jams. I was going to shave a little off the mag release on the inside and polish my mags. The problem dosn't seem to happen until the pistol heats up (that's what is seems like, could just be coincedence).

Have you checked the mag break? It may need to be bent back a little to clear the mags properly. Remove it and try your mags without it. If they drop you have found the problem - if they still stick, back to the drawing board. :)

Thanks, I'll check it out! I'd like to get this fixed before nationals.

Nope, that's not it. I found the problem, All my mags got a mark on the opposit side were the mag release button is. After examaning the release mecanism with the grips off, you can see part of the mag release button over extending and hitting the mag. So I'm going to have to grind a little bit of the mag release button on the inside. How do you remove the mag release button?

I`m thinking this is the main problem. I had the same issue with my 75B. Don`t bothere trying to tweak the stock one, it will just spring back. I ordered one from these guys and the mags just spit out after installing it

good luck!

I got the Mag Break on the way. Hopefully that will fix it along with the grinding (just a little bit) of the release button on the inside. Now all I need is Practice, Practice and more Practice!

"freak of engineering" Did someone call? I can reached at my new Address Freak of Nature".com

P.S. Strom : Do you have a bike ready for me at your next match?

remove the grips and see if there is a leaf spring putting pressure on the back of the mag. My CZ Kadet had the same issue and i removed the grips and bent the spring back with my finger. Problem solved. I hope thats all it takes.
