To be honest one shouldn't even bother looking at refurbs if they want collectibility...

if you want a safe queen you get a vet bringback :p
at least the RC's have the awesome 8mm Mauser round!

I found this website but they cant ship to Canada. He said they have one there, not listed for $599USD with all intact Nazi markings, WW2 dates (1941) and a very nice bore with a BNZ code which apparently means it was made in a concentration camp in Austria.

What would this be worth in Canada if I could find one?

If you are considering getting a collector grade K98, I would suggest doing a lot of research before diving in with a purchase. There are a lot of misrepresented stuff out there, some intentionally (scrubbed and restamped serials) and unintentionally (in the case of people id'ing East German reworks as 'matched' examples, etc). Mitchell's would be in the first group. Scrubbed, restamped and pimped up Russian Capture K98's. To get a good base of info on K98's, this forum is a good place to start as well as these three for more info:

Shrapnel, here is a Browning Hi Power with the marks that you mentioned. I picked this pc up from an old guy (a Vet) in his 80s in N.B. that claimed he was the second owner, 1st owner didn't need it anymore he said. It was in his sock drawer since the end of WW 2.

I don't look at anything in my collection as an investment. Maybe for my kids, but I hope they aquire the interest I have. I collect for one purpose only, it helps satisfy my strong interest in military history.
As for the k98, matching examples do exist, and do go up for sale from time to time. Unfortunately, most are sold before ever hitting the EE or gunshow these days.
My personal experience is that it takes alot of footwork, not so much going out there and looking for a specific collectable piece, but making the contacts and getting the word out. But I'm no expert on the matter, just consider myself lucky to be in the right place at the right time, with the right people.
I just spent the better part of 2 years chasing down an all matching example CE44, only to find it was a stock mismatch. Nice rifle though.
As for markings, here is my all matching original configuration dual code. The white-out needs refreshing, but you get the message. I wish you luck in your quest:)

Are Enfields out? If you want rifle with ties too it, you could go with a Long Branch No.4 Mk1*, which are made in Canada. Not to mention .303 appears to be more abundant then 8mm. I have an all matching example and its my baby, has a special spot in the Safe so it does not have a chance to get scratched when I grab another rifle. The ones P&S right now have the Ishipore or "Ishey" screw, which is a screw that goes through the fore end right in front of the mag, its visible in the Photos. These are perfect for someone that just wants a cool looking milsurp, but does not want to dish out the major bucks, as these are less desirable to the major collectors.
