I just read in another post there was a club in St. Catharines that accepts walk ins on weekends. Then I just talked to my friend who says his dad goes to Galt Sportsman as well as a walk in. Are there any other ranges in Ontario or around the GTA that do walk ins?

Can someone please explain walk ins to me? I didn't even know this was allowed. My CFSC instructor gave me the impression that there weren't any clubs that ran this way?

Just seems interesting and a whole lot cheaper if you just need to go somewhere to sight in a rifle once or twice a year without having to get full membership. Or even if you just want to get out a few times for the year.

wait galt sportsman? as in cambridge galt???

Yeah, he said Galt but I don't know if he's got his facts mixed, its actually legit or he's just mistaken it for another place. I doesn't say anything on their site about it so he could be wrong.

This is all new to me so I'm just trying to find out some more about it because I don't know too many good outdoor clubs in the GTA other than Sharon, Aurora and Guelph. Then this whole walk in thing was a surprise to me. Me = noob, lol.

Thanks for the link Caydel, it definitely looks like its worth checking out.

Sportsmens Club -Galt...(Cambridge, Ontario) does accept walk-ons Wednesday evenings til about 9 pm and Sunday til about 4 pm.
Walk-ons are only allowed for shotguns, ie. Sporting Clays, Trap, and Skeet.
Handguns and rifles are members only.

One sec... It's great to know that there are places to walk in and shoot but one thing I don't get is... Just for example: Target Sports. In order to shoot solo as a club member, their safety course needs to be taken, and still end up on probation for months and months with supervised shooting before one can shoot solo.

In that case, how can I just walk in there and shoot my own goodies?

silverdale gun club accepts walk-ins.
your must produce valid drivers licence or other goverment id with your name an address on it
2) produce valid pal - rpal

Silverdale is definitely worth checking out .. It's laid out quite nicely .. I go religiously with a group of friends at least once every month or so... One of whom is a member... Go check it out ... Seth and the guys will treat ya right... With what I have been paying for walkon as a guest I'm going to be talking to them soon about membership...

The Orono Fish and Hunt Club is on the north side of the 7th Concession between Brown Rd. and Leskard Rd. (just north of Taunton Rd between 115/35 and Darlington-Clarke Townline). 44.00987,-78.651445 using Google Earth. The club is open Wednesday and Sunday 10-5. I don't believe there's a sign at the road but there is a green entrance gate and the road forks to the right just inside the gate.

As far as target sports goes, it is generally only for handgun. Regarding hourly use, So they expect you to have your ATT already, so you are a member of a club and have already done that clubs course and probationary period. This is how it should be, its retarded having to take a course over and over again when you switch or want to join multiple clubs, very discouraging.

The Orono membership (member as well) is closer to $150.00 now and there is a $200.00 or so initiation fee for the first year.

Yes.$ 150.00 is cover you 1 years CSSA membership.
If you already have CSSA membership.
= $ 105.00.

I was at Target Sports looking at their goodies.

I asked about walk ins. The guy started talking about shooting varieties of guns and I said, what about bringing in your own non-restricted? He said, it's fine but it has to be .22lr and some smaller ga shotgun. That is it. :-(

He also mentioned something about previously taken safety course at another club, but i'm not sure how to tie that in, I forgot.
