I picked this little girl up last night from a fellow CGN'r whom I met for an exchange and a beer. This is a Remington 788 in .243 Winchester. I had my eye out for one for awhile now, and am looking foward to putting her through her paces. The rifle before was ok, but the stock was full (litteraly) with wood filler from front to back. It almost had a digital camo look to it. I thought I'd just leave it as is, minus stripping it and resealing it. Then I decided since it will be used as a varmint rifle, I might as well camo it. I sanded the gloss off, free floated the barrel then sealed it with a primer. Then I put a tan base down and hit it with flat brown and black using brush as stencils. Then I sealed the whole thing with a satin sealer. I think it turned out ok, I just hope the previous owner doesn't hate me forever. :p
I plan on using Ballistic Tips in it. The bore looks fantastic, and I've got a recipe for the 55 grainers that will vaporize gophers. I've also have some 95 grain BT's on hand that I'd like to try. This should be a fun one. :D

What kind of brush did you use to paint over?? I am assuming you meant the vegatation variety, but what KIND is what I mean...that is a stunning finish, perfect choice of colours, looks just like a classy marble texture. VERY NICE!
