Hinged trigger is for the birds. Comments about Glock needing to innovate: false. There's a plethora of aftermarket parts and accessories to fill any void you may have in regards to additional features. Glock in my opinon is hands down the definitive police duty pistol. Otherwise, I'd rather shoot a 1911 than either a Glock or an M&P any day.

Try telling a police instructor/armourer that you want to run an aftermarket 3.5 lb. connector, oh yeah and you're going to send your duty pistol down to Robar for a grip reduction - see what parts of you make it home. ALL products NEED to innovate - to deny that is silly. We refer to that innovation as progress. It's why we're not running around with Borchardt's patent pistols.

I own both, but i still go for the glock first. I guess its because i've had it longer and put more down the pipe. The m&p is a little more lefty friendly for me, but not by much.

Yeh! My dad can beat up yours! Two fine polymer pistols. I own a M&P.45 and I like it, I like it alot!

Um, try telling a police instructor/armourer anything, at all. I mean seriously, am I right? :p

As far as grip reduction goes, I don't need it, I shoot my Glock with my hands, not my ######.

I also own both. The trigger, and the reset are way better on the Glock. The only thing a tiny bit better on the M&P is the exchangeable grip inserts.

How did you disable your mag safety? It drives me bonkers!

Remove the stiker assembly. Knock out the roll pin that holds the mag safety just far enough to remove it. take out the mag safety. Install a spring that pushes the trigger bar against the sear on the same pin.(a cut pen spring works) re-enstall the mechanism. Voila, no mag safety. Five minute job. one less goofy feature.

Lokely not an issue but removing a safety device precludes the gun from IDPA.

Given the gun has only been out for a few years the M&P appears to have a fairly decent following. For playing the games, IPSC/IDPA I still think a steel gun stil has some advantages unless you are in the Master Class arena.

This turned out to be a very interesting poll on facts and opinions, i like that. Personaly i swear by my M&P 9 just because its the first one i bought. I did however do my homework and read up on them both. When it came down to holding the Glock (not sure which model it was) it realy wasn't fitting right. I tried the M&P after with the medium back strap and it worked out nice. I do know though those Glocks are indestructible just from watching some videos on youtube and hearing stories. Good thread though guys and thanks for the input.

Too true about instuctors, might as well talk to the wall, -you know I saw a stripper once in Vancouver who could shoot with her ###### (she was shooting ping pong balls though). She was pretty accurate but her stance was a little awkward.

Hahaha! Man, you know when we're not #####ing or getting all riled up about politics, we've got a pretty cool group of guys here. We should do a CGN BBQ!

The biggest knock against the Glock for most is the grip. It just doesn't fit a lot of hands. This is the only reason why I bought the M&P over the Glock. One thing the M&P did for the Glock lovers is to drop the price down on the Glock 17.

With so many pistols comiung out with adjustable back straps maybe Glock will come out with their 4th Edition with adjustable grips.

As an experienced shooter, what did you feel was different in your hands?
The only issue I have encountered is that for the last year and some I have shot right handed exclusively and in all classes. For some reason when shooting right, I ride the slide stop a bit. Left was never a problem.

Since the two pistols are similar, I won't make my usual comments, however I did catch a good sig somewhere that said"

I will buy my guns based on "what feels nice" when they start making a grip that feels like a C cup.

Tested out a glock, usp, and beretta, at a shooting range in Wa. I wanted to test the mp9 when I got there they never had one for me to test.

After trying those three guns out I found the glock better than the rest.
A few weeks later I went to the gun shop and they had a used mp9, loved the feel of it.

Ended up getting the mp9 as it felt best in my hands, after shooting it I found the slide action smother on my mp9.

Both great guns, wish the mp9 had as many aftermarket parts for it like the glock.
