Well I have been thinking of getting a .223 for sometime now for target shooting and blasting gophers and I came across this deal......

" Remington 700 VTR in .223 Like new. <150 rounds through it. comes with bipod and sling. Remington 700 VTR $750 Falcon Optics 4.5-18x56 tactical scope (lifetime warranty) $450 Scope mount and rings $180 Harris Bipod $80 Total: $1460 Selling for $1100 Must have a valid PAL to purchase. Please only call after 5pm."

The gun looks mint however I don't know much about Falcon optics so I was wanting to get some feedback to see if people think this is a good deal or not.

Thank you in advance.

Not really an "exceptional" deal IMHO. Me, I would prefer to spend more and buy everything new.

Why would you waste good money on a Remington?
I was looking at a Remington rifle last week and I asked about quality control problems. I was told in no uncertain terms that Remington rifles are popular and just as good a rifle as any other on the market. I replied just because millions of people drink Corona beer, that does not make Corona a good beer. I left the rifle on the counter. Sorry for going off topic.

I got a remmington sps heavy barrrel in 223 with a bushnell 3200 3.5-16. Its a great rifle less then one inch groups at 100yds the only thing i didnt like (and changed) was the bolt knob/handle.
cheers

From the guys I've talked to that actually own the VTR, I've heard good things. I'll be buying one in the next year.

Shop around. There are better deals to be found. I'm a hard core 700 fan, but the VTR sure doesn't float my boat! Take a look at the SPS Tactical or Varmint lines. If you decide to sell down the road, the latter will be easier to more as the triangular bbl is one of those features you either love or hate.
