The Albanians have a bit of varied reputation for dependability, fit and function. When they first hit south of the border some were saying do not shoot them, others were having assorted problems, others found they worked flawlessly and were quite accurate. The stocks on them were notoriusly poor, even on some of the best examples. To this day it is still not definatively known where they were produced. Some say home grown, others claim they were sourced from China. All in all a very collectible version of the SKS,but in short supply. Reportedly only around 16,000 were ever built, with half being destroyed.

If there were production and arsenal years like the Russian ones, I'd take one from every arsenal/year and if that was less than ten I'd make it ten just so I could get a crate.

Hope that helps in the decision making process.

No more in Albania all destroyed by the Government. A few available on the American market from private purchase and from a dealer who stashed some away 5 or 6 years ago. Point is moot, because US State Department will no longer issue export permits for rifle in the 7.62x39 mm caliber.

you mean albania ?

question. not disputing whether they destroyed or not but why would a poor country like albania destroy all their SKS? why not sell the rest ?

Yes I meant Albania. United Nations small arms anti-proliferation program pays more for these poor countries to destroy their weapons than sell them. Even larger Countries in compliance with the United Nation program have destroyed their stocks of surplus military weapons in the last decade: Canada, South Africa, Norway, France, etc..........
